Tiger331
Doing some research on the EE/BAC Canberra and I have a couple of questions for the Canberra experts out there: First one concerns 97 Sqn RAF Signals Command EE/BAC Canberra B.6 (Mod). At one stage, these aircraft sported the High Speed Silver scheme with dayglo stripes on the forward and rear fuselage, fin and wings……Does anyone have any photographic references that show the pattern/extent of the dayglo striping on the wing surfaces ?. There is a color side profile only in the 'On Target' Profile No.7 on the 'bomber canopy' Canberra's and whilst I have a pretty extensive Canberra reference library, I have not found any suitable images. My second query concerns a photo in Warbirds Illustrated No.51 by Arms and Armour press. This book, by Ken Delve, is dedicated to the Canberra and B-57. Towards the back of the book is an air to air image of a trio of RAE aircraft including a rather unusual EE/BAC Canberra B(I)8 (WJ646) sporting an elongated nose for the quote 'AI.18 programme' unquote. Does anyone know the whereabouts of other images of this particular aircraft ?. Incidentally, I believe the caption may be slightly wrong in the book and that the aircraft was actually operated on behalf of the Royal Radar Establishment and not the RAE. Thanks Mark
canberra kid
Hi Mark To get the ball rolling here is the official drawing for the placement of the day-glo, there are as always variations. John
