noeyedears Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 now thats something you dont see every day really effective and i love it! think ill have to get me some of those lifecolour rusty washes. 2
tommy1drop Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Looks spot on, great bit of painting, looking forward to seeing more. 2
richj Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Looking forward to seeing the finished article. What you've done so far on this build is fantastic. 2
AgentG Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 This is a very very well done model. It truly captures "the look". For what it's worth, search for photos of tank wrecks in the Pacific. Even after 7 decades, the welds on M4's are shiny G 2
Sgt.Squarehead Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Weld material of that era contained high chromium content. Yet again, some frankly rude assertions are made without knowledge (or even basic research). Nice one Jason, that pretty much says it all, doesn't it.....On a couple of levels. 4
Andy Moore Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Thanks all for the comments, very much appreciated and thanks for those great shots Jason. They show exactly the kind of look I was going for with the welds. I promise there will be some updates on this build soon, just as soon as I've got a couple of more pressing projects done. now thats something you dont see every day really effective and i love it! think ill have to get me some of those lifecolour rusty washes. The Lifecolor rust set is great for doing these kind of effects. Unlike Vallejo and other acrylics, they don't leave tide marks when you apply them as a wash and they're dead matt which gives them a nice pigment-y look. Andy
unimodeler Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Andy, I'm usually a lurker here. I have to say that you have dones some simply STUNNING work on that kit. Just amazing. I get some folks criticism about realism, but regardless I think what you are doing with this kit is amazing. Looking forward to seeing more updates.
piueception Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 That is amazing. I'm actually loving the weathering on this, what a great idea to mis-match the hull and turret!
Motor Head Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 I am very impressed witk your paint job. Very good handling oxides and weathering.
Andy Moore Posted December 20, 2015 Author Posted December 20, 2015 Wow, I really had to dig this one out of the dusty recesses of the forum Yes, miracles do happen... some progress has been made on the Vorne. The diorama won't get done till next year now, but I want to get the damn tank finished before the end of the year. Probably not the final placement of all the junk on the rear deck, and more will probably be added, but at least the tracks are done, as is most of the weathering It will be finished by new year... It will be finished by new year... If I keep repeating it to myself, it might just happen Andy 13
Sgt.Squarehead Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 That's awesome fella, don't let this one languish in the to do pile! 1
PlaStix Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I'm really pleased you've got this one back out again! Stunning modelling! Looking forward to seeing more progress. 1
stevehnz Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Bluddy brilliant. As an enthusiastic amateur welder/metal worker, I find your rendering of the steel/welds on this to be spot on. I think the final dio will be worth the wait. Steve. 2
The Sheene Machine Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Just......Wow. Nothing else to say!! 1
noeyedears Posted December 23, 2015 Posted December 23, 2015 glad you stuck to your guns and did it how YOU wanted it as its a stunner! 2
Andy Moore Posted December 26, 2015 Author Posted December 26, 2015 Thanks guys I'm going to call the Vorne done. I could keep on adding more junk and tarps, but sooner or later I'd end up covering the whole thing, which would be a bit pointless. Once the diorama's done, I'll add more stuff to integrate it with the base, but this will do for now. The only other think that I think would look good, would be an old, rusty tool box and tools, to give it that forgotten workshop look. The only additions since the last update are the tarp over the barrel, which is tissue paper soaked in PVA, and some lengths of timber There's less happening on the right side as this will be against the wall in the dio, so not much will be seen The diorama WILL happen next year, although I can't guarantee when yet Andy 7
Sgt.Squarehead Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 Looking sweet Andy, but I'm not sure about the tarp on the left side running gear, the tears look a bit odd and I get the impression it fought back! 1
