This is a very very well done model. It truly captures "the look".

For what it's worth, search for photos of tank wrecks in the Pacific. Even after 7 decades, the welds on M4's are shiny

Weld material of that era contained high chromium content. Yet again, some frankly rude assertions are made without knowledge (or even basic research).

Nice one Jason, that pretty much says it all, doesn't it.....On a couple of levels.

Thanks all for the comments, very much appreciated and thanks for those great shots Jason. They show exactly the kind of look I was going for with the welds.

I promise there will be some updates on this build soon, just as soon as I've got a couple of more pressing projects done.

The Lifecolor rust set is great for doing these kind of effects. Unlike Vallejo and other acrylics, they don't leave tide marks when you apply them as a wash and they're dead matt which gives them a nice pigment-y look.

Andy,

I'm usually a lurker here. I have to say that you have dones some simply STUNNING work on that kit. Just amazing. I get some folks criticism about realism, but regardless I think what you are doing with this kit is amazing. Looking forward to seeing more updates.

Wow, I really had to dig this one out of the dusty recesses of the forum

Yes, miracles do happen... some progress has been made on the Vorne.
The diorama won't get done till next year now, but I want to get the damn tank finished before the end of the year.
Probably not the final placement of all the junk on the rear deck, and more will probably be added, but at least the tracks are done, as is most of the weathering

It will be finished by new year... It will be finished by new year... If I keep repeating it to myself, it might just happen

Thanks guys

I'm going to call the Vorne done. I could keep on adding more junk and tarps, but sooner or later I'd end up covering the whole thing, which would be a bit pointless. Once the diorama's done, I'll add more stuff to integrate it with the base, but this will do for now. The only other think that I think would look good, would be an old, rusty tool box and tools, to give it that forgotten workshop look.

The only additions since the last update are the tarp over the barrel, which is tissue paper soaked in PVA, and some lengths of timber

There's less happening on the right side as this will be against the wall in the dio, so not much will be seen

The diorama WILL happen next year, although I can't guarantee when yet
