UKguyInUSA
Hello Chaps, This was the 7th model that I built since starting modeling in January 2014. I completed this on April 27th, 2014. This was my first Tamiya kit and I really loved the build, it went together so well and some great looking details included such as the bomb bay with fuel cells, the cockpit and the undercarriage. This was the kit that got me turned on to loving Tamiya kits and just happens to be my favorite British Fighter Bomber Aircraft. There are plenty of after-market enhancements available for this kit, but, this was built out of the box. If you haven't built this kit before and you're a lover of the "Mossie", I highly recommend this kit, it's a joy to build and looks great when completed. I used the kits decals for the instrument panel and seat belts, because at the time, I wasn't happy with my dry-brushing skills to attempt painting them. I also left the canopy unglued so that I could remove it to see inside the cockpit area, and, also the front machine guns access panel was left unglued. I just wanted to share this with you guys, as presently, I haven't touched styrene for two weeks due to being actively searching for a new home to buy with my wife. One that has a nice big spare room to accommodate my hobby with capacity to display at least 12 new models a year for the next....hmm.....however many more years I live and am capable of modeling! I hope you enjoy my build, and, I'm always open to constructive criticism, as complacency doesn't exist in my vocabulary. I'm never totally happy with my last build, I'm my own worst critic and try to push myself further with each new build...... If you'd like to see my "Final Reveal" YouTube video for this build, here is the link to that...it has a couple of good sound tracks to accompany the build! https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=3tpAeOSnKY8 Thanks in advance for taking a look and for any comments you make! doozer1974
Lovely looking Mossie, great work inside and out! Please don't take this as criticism of your work, but the one thing I'm not keen on is the seat harness decals, they just never quite look right sitting so flat to the seat. I had some in the Revell Mosquito I built a few years ago, and didn't like the result. They're one of the few things that tempt me into the aftermarket whenever I see them in a kit I've bought. They don't detract from a fantastic looking model though

Teejayw
Absolutely stunning job :-) I've got one of those in my stash, still learning so it's staying there until I can make a decent attempt at it.
Ronan71
A superb Mosquito! One suggestion that I think would add to it would be to using a fine drill bit, try hollowing out the four cannon/gun barrels for the nose guns as they don't look quite right with the out of the box blank ends. Otherwise I can't see anything to improve on!

Bob Henry
That looks SUPER ! I echo the sentiments about the weathering. Sometimes aircraft weathering goes too far. You seemed to have gotten it right.I have this kit as well and maybe someday ..... Anyhow I hope to be able to see a real Mossy up in the air in about a week or so. There is an upcoming WWII weekend at a museum in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Once again, GREAT JOB.
Spookytooth
Nice work Martin , nice work. This was one of the first kits I built when I got back into the hobby, and I totally agree with you on the detail bit. And leaving the cockpit loose is not a bad idea when showing off the interior. You cannot see much through the door on the side. Simon.

They don't detract from a fantastic looking model though Hey Doozer, I don't take it as criticism about the seat belt decals, I would love to use after market PE and resin sets, but they're expensive, sometimes a lot more than the kit costs, and so I always build OOB. I have just started attempting to scratch build details on my latest builds, such as my last build the Revell 1/32 Arado AR196A-3 to try to improve things. I personally think that kit manufacturers should start to include the after-market enhancements with their kits at a reduced price and not full retail price. They should buy from the after-market manufacturers at warehouse rates and just add on a small mark-up. I know some kits have started to begin adding PE and/or resin, which is great, but it should be across the board. If the kit manufacturer's injection molded product lacks in detail, then they should make it their responsibility to include improved options. That said, thanks for taking a look and happy you like how she turned out! Cheers, Martin

Cheers, Martin Hi Martin I take your point completely about the potential for spending an absolute shed load of money on aftermarket items, and I too prefer to build OOB most of the time. I've not tried scratchbuilding anything as yet, I fear my lack of manual dexterity would actually lead to a worse result than just using the original kit parts... I like your idea about kit manufacturers including aftermarket items, Eduard's profi-pack kits are excellent value for money I think (based on what I've built so far at least, which have included masks, pre-painted photo etch and resin), so would be great to see others follow a similar track.
