Graham T
On the home straight wiyth my VIII & checking the sprues & instructions to make sure I haven't forgotten anything, I found two parts - J1 & 2 that look suspiciously like Seafire catapult strop hooks. The parts are not identical to one another but I can't wee what else they might be.
gingerbob
Sorry, but those are the hooks that go (one or other, in pairs, depending on which size tank) behind the slipper tank. Step 22, I think it was, mentions drilling two little holes on the wing underside, but I think they may have forgotten to mention installing the hooks. bob

Graham T
The other point is no Seafire used the two stage Merlin 60 series either. Yes true but nice to imagine that they were going to produce one with new parts nonetheless!
Phil Evans
Well they need to pull their finger out and give us the earlier variants. And the later variants. And seafires, etc, etc
davidelvy
Maybe Revell can give us a Seafire at a seventh of the price? It's a small step from a Mk II to a Mk Vb. A few extra bits and you've got a Seafire Mk Ib.
dazdot
Problem will be reinforcement plates for the fuselage
Graham Boak
5 thou plastic card, if all else fails? I think the hook would be much more significant than cutting shallow trenches in the female mould.
Work In Progress
Yes, the reinforcements are easy enough with plastic sheet stock. That or thin aluminium sheet (drinks can, pie dish, etc) superglued on. Or self-adhesive plumbing aluminium tape. Or even a suitable thickness of paper applied with one of the more convincing substitutes for old-school Johnson's Klear. Phil Evans
How about a Seafire from hobby Boss? I know there's the issue of the canopy and the tailplane, but is the rest of the kit a good starting point?
Work In Progress
I prefer the Hasegawa one, other people's opinions vary. Worthwhile detailed comments here: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/65229-hobby-boss-132-spitfire-vb-sprue-shots/page-3?hl=spitfire Edited May 7, 2015 by Work In Progress
Giorgio N
Converting a Spitfire IX into a Seafire III is IMHO not too difficult. Granted, a new cowling and radiator are required, but once these are sorted this becomes an easy conversion. Actually it's possible to shorten the Spit IX cowling, I've done this in 1/72 scale before without too many issues. There's then a load of smaller details to add, but none would be particularly difficult for a modeller with a minumum of experience
