Got this early last year from a small Cottage industry business in the U.S . Saw it reviewed on Large Scale planes forum and thought that this w a kit i would like to see consructed . Being that it would be very unlikely to see one displayed at any model show in the UK i decided that i woud get my own .

Did flag it up here . http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234960259-132-resin-triebflugel/

I have made a small start ,my estimate around 10 -15 % so i hope is ok to enter here.

I am away tillnextweek so will post some pics and get going then.

Will be useing the Luftwaffe markings as used in late june 45 . None of this silly Luft46 or Scifi rubbish ;)

This kit i will be building at home . I shall post my at work build entry later.

Welcome aboard Alistair, great to see you here.

I do sooo much like the sound of this build!!! I don't know this model at all, so am really keen to see some photos! Have been tempted for sometime to build one of these weird things, but resin 1/32nd....hmmmm :hmmm: I may have to get me one of these!

I suspect she'll be quite big, well tall and quite heavy so I hope the wheels/undercarriage is up to it!

Will be following this one with special interest, good luck with the build and hope it's enjoyable.

Thank you arnold , Cliff and Rich.

Sorry for long delay in my reply but my intenet access has been reduced thanks to Openreach not connecting a phone line to my new house . was first ment to be connected 2nd march . Loads of poor excusses and they cannot give me a date as road works need to be done ;( :badmood::weep::mental::shrug::shit:

am now back at office on Sunday Pm to use work computer

First to get ball rolling some pics of Box , parts , decals and instructions

image.jpg6.jpg

Good quality smallish corrigated box typical of cottage industry made kits

image.jpg1.jpg

parts made of very brittle resin . One of the clam shell main wheel covers had shatterd into about 10 parts but i have managed to get them back together . A bit like glueing an egg shell together.

some of the parts are coverd in a rough pimpled surface . i think with sanding lots of small air bubbles will make hem selfs known.

two clear cannopies are procvided along with some steel pegs for ataching wings and stabaliser legs. i will probably replace these with brass .

image.jpg3.jpg

image.jpg4.jpg

image.jpg5.jpg

instructions are well done and nice and clear . The kit is desighned to alowe the cntre section to spin :)

Decals are provided for two machines one being the one flown by Johann Shmidt when he became known as Red Skull in the Hydra organisation.

As i want to do the one that he actually did fly in late 45 i will be useing the luftwaffe markings . Painting will of course be done to the scheme used in the famous Triebflugel raids over south west England . i will be doing some reserch on the crash site close to my home in Devon where it is believed the real Johann Shmidt lost his life when his Triebflugel whent into a spin and dived into the hard red soil of late summer

Work will start tomorrow.

I love this one already!!!

Hopefully the jets are there as I can't see them in the photo's. Cottage industry resin like plastic can be awfully fun to play with!! I also agree with you in that you'll need quite a bit of brass to give it strength, is the main lower section completely hollow?

I will be following this with great interest.....

Just to let you know that i have been bussy sanding and sorting out the parts of this kit. While it has few parts they are definatly from the cottage industry end of the business. i feel that now all parts are ready to assemble things should gotogether without too many problems . Will post some pics over w/end

The fact that i still dont have a phone line at home hasnt helped as no internet in evenings. openreach hope to connect end of August . First date given 2nd march .... Thank you openreach NOT

Have got a good way into this kit and have now got some time to get my thoughts down. Have built a good number of resin kits over the past 10 or so years and this one is as cottagy as they get . I think only 40 or so were made and i havenot come across any completed builds although i did find a stalled build on Large Scale Planes .

When i first planned the build the low number of parts gave the impression that this could be a quick build , howver i now know better.

P1000230.jpg

The resin is very hard and very brittle as if too much hardener has been used . Most parts are coverd in what i can only call resin acne , lots of raised pimples which take an age to sand off and then leave a small pin hole.

cleaning off and repairing some shatterd parts has taken hours

P1000234.jpg

This clam shell wheel cover was brocken into about 7 parts in the box but lucky ll were there and i figured how to reassemble it.

Got this book for some ideas on detailing the beast and it has some good computer generated graphics to provide some ideas on colours and markings

P1010248.jpg

This sceheme took my fancy with lots of scope for some weathering

P1010250.jpg

So far the lower section has now been assembled useing super glue mixed with talk and brass tube for strength. 5 min appoxy was used to attach stabaliser legs to give time to possition parts evenly

P1010243.jpgWithe a dry run the Tribflugel is a good size in 1/32

complete with its wings P1010246.jpg

Very nice, I like this, can sympathise about brittle resin, the warp Babylon 5 kits are extremely brittle. Had a few rebuilds along the way.

All the best Chris

WOW she is big!!!

It's a shame about the quality of the resin and the moulding, hopefully it won't give you too much trouble.

It does look impressive though!!

Very nice work - and a good choice for the livery - I also cought my attention and was part of the reason why I bought my kit.

Thanks Chris . Its almost like building a kit in another material compared to the Posh A2Ze type resin

Reccon when we buy kits lke this we are infact looking for trouble and problems to solve . Yes its got the potential to be impressive and someone with more skill than me could superdetail and improve the kit to make a show stopper.

Yep have used loads of brass tube ,probably around 450mm so far, along with a full 125ml super glue

howabout doing yours in some captured french markings to go along side the 1/32 Do 335 and Horton

Recon a good sanding with some wet and dry paper soaked in Clearasil should do the trick.

With the start of the battle of Britain G/B this one has proceded at a slower pace , however iv just spent a good 2 days getting the final sections ready for paint. All sub assembies are now done and all primer on.

I think that without this G/B i may have put this beast on the shelf for sometime but pleased iv kept going.

The wigs now have their ram jets attached . Intresting to see how small a raam jet is compaired to a typical ww2 jet engine. The small fins on the ram jet were made from plastic card as the originals had brocken in to dust.

P1010278.jpg

The clam shell main wheel covers have been detailed with some plastic strip as they will be quite visible from underneath

P1010277.jpg

Cockpit looks fine and the deformd resin parts dont show under a coat of RLM 66 . I replaced the rudder peddels , control stick and instrument pannel with those from an old revell 190 .

P1010279.jpg

P1010280.jpg

not seen in my pics i have made a gun sight out of scrap plastic.

The cnopy is made from very thin plastic so was easy and quick to cut out but a little small for the opening so i have faired it in with milliput and superglue/talk mix . has come out ok and i think will blend in ok

P1010281.jpg

P1010283.jpg

Thats the basic construction done ,now to get the airbrush out .Should be easy with the sub asemlies being easy to handle .

First my appologys for not makeing a better contribution to this G/B . Feeling that i should have spent more time getting to know other like minded members of B/Modeller through all the creative builds here. Being the owner of a plant nursery in the summer doesnt leave much time for anything else but work ,also started a project in the Battle of britain G/B which ment my time was stretched as thin as a gnats scrotum .

I was determind to get this one done so the little time i have had i devoted to its completion .

Not the detail i had in mind when first starting it ,nor the presentation .Had hoped to build a diorama of the beast sitting in a forest clearing with the pilot being given the last rites by a priest before climbing the ladder.

Any way here it is.
