Misterfriend
I've seen Printers Ink mentioned a few times as being used for doing metal effects on figures. I'm a little confused as to what they are! What brand is used and where does one get them? Are they oil based? I tried the Googles and I got a ton of hits about inkjet printer ink but I'm pretty sure thats not whats being used, or is it? Sorry if this seems like an obvious question! cheers Segan

Knikki
Here is a link to the Massive Voodoo uisng Printers Inks, figures http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.co.uk/2010/09/how-to-paint-metals-with-printers-ink.html Doing to old Google I guess you can get these inks from Art Shops, I have seen some on the web shops that sell virtually all figures. Not sure of makes I am afraid as it is not something I have experimented with.
Misterfriend
You've been reading old Verlinden publications! Actually it was one of the Mr Black publications which I think are Pegaso but same ideas I assume! I did a search on here and there were a few builds that mention using them too, ditto for Planet Figure, but no one says what they are! I'm going to pop down to my local art store and see what they have. From what I can gather it's a very fine pigment, heavy oil based medium. That is more than I knew yesterday! cheers Segan
Misterfriend
The solution was to look for etching inks and avoid the word printing/printers/etc! Thanks for your help chaps.
Bigmick
Hobbycraft do a printers silver ink, I bought some for the paint box but it looks too grainy, the silver flakes are quite big, even Tamiya X-11 looks smooth in comparison, the gold is quite good though

Eludia
El Greco sell jars of printers ink in 3 flavours; Gold, Copper and Silver, which is all you need. They are not cheap, at £10 a pop, but a little goes a long way and these jars will last years. clickie: http://www.elgrecominiatures.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d269.html
