1/72 Italeri Ju-188

Recommended Posts

Another 70's classic oldie but goodie from Italeri... I'm quite enjoying these old Italeri kits as they have all the basics of a decent kit, just in need of a bit of updating and TLC.

She's had a full rescribe, adding in more historic detail than was present on the rather sparse original raised panel lines, I've also added a fair bit of scratchbuilding, including an accurate cockpit, flap levers, dive brakes, P/E guns, sights and brass barrels.

Anyway - as always, all feedback and constructive criticism is much appreciated... so please fire away chaps!

A very good model. You've made an excellent job of it. Very well done.

You did the old kit justice and then some. It would take a Junkers junkie to tell it's not from a certain Japanese manufacturer...

Just because you asked for constructive criticism, is it still possible to rotate the wheels so that the flats stay on the ground, or they're glued on tight?

Very nice - I've had a liking for this aircraft since doing the old Matchbox version as a lad. Got a Bilek boxing of this in the stash somewhere!

Pat

I might be wrong but I think the Italeri and the Bilek are the same tooling. Incedentally, the Matchbox was released the same year - 1974. Not bad for 41 year old kits!

Ha ha, yes well spotted... Nothing gets past you guys! The were intended as being movable but ol' Mr Cement was a bit more watery than expected. I may break 'em off and reposition.

Thanks mate!

You've done an excellent job on this kit! I always did like the radial-engined versions of the Ju-88 family more than the inline-engined ones.

Regards,

Jason

Same here... the BMWs just look a bit 'meatier' and more suited to it.

Thanks everyone who's commented above, it means a lot!

Funnily enough, I was reading about the Ju188 for the first time earlier today. Superb work on this, everything about it looks good, the canopy in particular is gorgeous.

I don't know about you Doozer, but I always get right into the subject that I'm making at the time... and this one was no different! there's an excellent set of books on the JU88 family from Black Cross that's well worth checking out if you're interested.

Thanks too btw!
