CedB Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Cheers Ced the B1 may never get finished for what I have planned for her. As for XH533 she is nearing completion now. Cheers Rob I sense 'sales demo model' coming here? Good idea Rob (so that people can see the bits fitted). 1
xvtonker Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Fantastic conversion, and a great read. I've been following this topic with great interest. All we need now is for you to produce an aftermarket conversion set!!! XVTonker 1
toms111s Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Looking great Rob, where did you get the drawings from? I could use a set as I am trying to convert the cyber hobby kit to having a conventional bomb bay rather than the Blue Steel bay. I need to know the profile of the underneath of the fuselage and also where the panel lines will need scribing. Any help would be appreciated 😀 1
robvulcan Posted May 13, 2015 Author Posted May 13, 2015 Thanks guys and Toms111 I might be able to help with the Bombay. PM to remind me to get back to you ive been very busy with things recently and not got a lot of modelling done Cheers Rob
robvulcan Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 Tool at the Ready ! , About time I updated this project. I have been absent for a while now as I get settled into my new Job playing Guitar for Sister Shotgun which is Awsome. Ive not had chance to update some of the work that had been goin on in the past so here we are Yet more things to delete from the B2 to make it into a B1. When you look closely it's scary how vastly Different they was. I decided to start building another one too as a silver Straight wing B1 and also started to throw together a Pit Road TSR-2. Here im making a template for the spliter plates as the kit ones are way to big I can sand them nav to this shape. Here I have masked off the under wing kink area to thin them out and reduce the forward dropped angle that the B2 had and again B1 did not have. I have filled in the engine tunnel mounts for the two pipes on the B2 and removed all the various boxes and fitings again the B1 never had anyof these either. A different subject but im quite happy with this Canopy I tried to tint the windows by brushing on the inside some revell Aqua Brass heavily thined with Underwoods Floor Polish from Lakeland looks pretty cool to me Here I have reshaped the B1 splitter plate and blended the resin intakes with milliput and also scratched the nose mounted Intake thing out of sprue. This was unique to Vulcan B1s. I will update more in a bit cheers Rob 5
CedB Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 And he's back! Great work Rob and pleased to hear that the band is working out 1
robvulcan Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 And he's back! Great work Rob and pleased to hear that the band is working out Cheers mate. Yup getting in the band is great I have been busy writing music and learning their music. Soon will start to re balance my life out a bit and crack on with this and other projects as time allows. Here is the B1 after many hours of sanding and Some primer etc The early B2 XH533 is now prety much finished next to it he B1 on some B2 Legs I need to now make the landing gear up which should be taller at the front on the B1 so the nose sits a lot higher Cheers Rob 3

robvulcan Posted July 31, 2015 Author Posted July 31, 2015 its all looking very good - and adventurous or should I say brave. I have both the GWH Vulcan and Victor in my mountain of un-built's - they are both really nice crisp kits Good luck and conversion on... Thanks its just because I love the sleek looks of the B1 so much it drives me on to do it. There is something about it hat appeals so much to me. They are wonderful kits indeed and the Victor is something I have on the go at the mo I Can't wait to make more of them and I will be doing B1 victor too. eventualy .. Mistelvulcan? Hmm, not sure it'll ever catch on but hey, if that's your bag man Seriously, too much talent in one place mate Well done with the band, I really want that to work for you long term, it's brilliant Like the Vulcans, pure magic Thanks very much mate I hope the band works out I will have to post some photos of us here from the shoot we just did so you can see. And as for Resin and V bombers I am doing it because I love them and want to make it easy to do more for the Bomber Command table not just for me but others too eventually. When they are finished I will do my best to make parts available as people require and time / money allows. Cheers Rob 1
robvulcan Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 Right then excuse the awfully messy bench it had got really out of hand at this point. Modeling is messy at the best of times but adding in resin rubber in 2 parts with cups sticks Lego bricks clay plasticine and hot melt glue guns and you have a right challenge on your hands. My Dad was the one who suggested "after all the work you have done why not mold the whole plane" Great idea I thought so it's being done ! I have been very slow posting on here and what you are and im slowly posting this for folk here to see. I have been very busy with music recently and fitting modelling in when I can. On that note here is one of my Ibanez JEM guitars I will have to do some proper photos but the other Vulcan B2 XH533 is now finished and here she is I don't always do panel lines and this does not really need them however good photos I have of her shows she did get a bit gubby. I had her pristine for a long time but a while back experimented hand painting all these lines free hand with very thin light grey paint which is what you see here it was fun and I like the look of it but took a while. Cheers Rob 8
robvulcan Posted August 22, 2015 Author Posted August 22, 2015 Cheers Andy and CedB I'll post more soon glad your enjoying this build it will go on for a lot lot longer yet. Lots to post and lots to finish. Couple of years worth of work actually and every bit of it fun 1
toms111s Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 I love what your doing to create a B1, the attention to detail is spot on. Love how neat your work is too. Can't wait to see more of your progress. Good luck with the band too!
Col. Posted August 23, 2015 Posted August 23, 2015 Stunning work on the Vulcan Rob Know nothing about guitars but that one looks smart as well. 1
robvulcan Posted August 23, 2015 Author Posted August 23, 2015 I love what your doing to create a B1, the attention to detail is spot on. Love how neat your work is too. Can't wait to see more of your progress. Good luck with the band too! Thanks its something I have become totally obsessed with since being a kid seening footage of B1s and thinking as a kid "Wow they look pretty and somehow different" I did not know what it was back then but overall they looked totally different in the presence they had I can now see the great many differences but back then was just the tail and wings looked softer some how. Then when I was told about the B1 at Cosford me and my grandad went to see it and could not find it. We asked and the chap said "Oh they scrapped that a few years ago, We got a B2 now its the same thing" That angered me back then on a few levels even at about age 10 1.Scrapping it seemed and still seems totally wrong as it was the last one. 2. Its not the same as a B2 just annoyed the hell out of me then I was doomed to a life of frustration at not being able to see a B1 and the more I studied them the more I fell in love with it which has led to this. Stunning work on the Vulcan Rob Know nothing about guitars but that one looks smart as well. Cheers Col mate and the Guitar is a Steve Vai Ibanez JEM 77BFP and it Rocks . That's a beauty Rob! Cheers John Cheers John glad you like her I will get some good photos done when the weather is settled and get her up in RFI. Rob 1
Val Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Amazing Vulcan, Rob! Fantastic work my friend! Cool Ibanez as well 1
robvulcan Posted August 28, 2015 Author Posted August 28, 2015 (edited) Amazing Vulcan, Rob! Fantastic work my friend! Cool Ibanez as well Cheers Val mate and glad you like the Jem to like a Vulcan Beautiful but Brutal ! Maths. ! Not my strong point at all and here we are doing ratios. When at school if a teacher asked me what Ratio is I would likely reply model manufactures of plastic kit buildings for Model Railways. Back then as today I'd be reading about modelling over anything else. I made some molds for my modded landing gear but I have since disgusted these and want to make a new mold as this is not the best way and waists to much resin. Above is my extended B2 leg but for be B1 I will have to make much longer legs and mod the rear legs as they are totally different. Using the drawings and masking tape a tip I learned from General Melchet you can trace drawings and transfer to plasticard for the formers then laminate them to thickness and drill file and shape away. It's a great method to use. Inside here is 1 Vulcan b1 cheers Rob Edited August 28, 2015 by robvulcan 2
