Max Headroom
Walking along the Pier Head at lunchtime today I saw this ferry which has been newly painted at Cammell Lairds to a Dazzle Pattern designed by artist Sir Peter Blake. There are a couple of reasons as to why this has been done. The first is the obvious nod to the ships of the Great War to tie in with commemoration of the conflict, as many ships sailed to or from Liverpool. The other is the upcoming John Moores Biennial Arts Exhibition and the Snowdrop acting as a giant floating 'installation'. I think it looks rather fetching! Pete610
Don't forget the association with the Zeebrugge Raid - where 2 Mersey Ferries of the the time - Daffodil and Iris took part - earning the honour of being able to wear the Royal prefix ever since.... Max Headroom
One of the current ferries is called Royal Daffodil in honour of the original in the raid. Trevor
