Cookenbacher Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Thanks everybody, I have to admit that this one sapped the ol' mojo a little. Pics are up in the Gallery. Thanks to Mish and Rich for putting together another great Group Build for us, and thanks Rich for the leniency regarding the lucky Spitfire, it saved the day! 9
Stew Dapple Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Excellent work Cookie, and congratulations for seeing it through; I would have been testing the kits real-world aerodynamics long ago Cheers, Stew 3
rob85 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Well done on completing your struggle here cookie.... The end results are amazing without even thinking about what the kit gave you in the way of challenges I would be over the moon Rob 1
giemme Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Now that's a great pic! Perfectly showing the weathering! PS (and OT): what does "sapped" mean? English lesson time for me ... Ciao 1
CedB Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 giemme I use 'sapped' (like Cookie I think) to explain a slow, usually partial, draining (removal) of something so: "That sprint drained my strength" but "That marathon sapped my strength" HTH 2
giemme Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 giemme I use 'sapped' (like Cookie I think) to explain a slow, usually partial, draining (removal) of something so: "That sprint drained my strength" but "That marathon sapped my strength" HTH Thanks Ced, now I get it. Ciao 2
Cookenbacher Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Ah, beautifully done Ced, you've proven that Double-E's are not your only linguistic talent. Just as Picasso had talent for naturalistic paintings as well. Giemme, thanks my friend, I think that the lighting problem I've experienced with my old cheap camera was largely due to the white background. It seems to handle the dark background much better. And completely off topic, have you seen this? Modelglue repowered his ETS and I thought you'd appreciate it. Rob, PC and Stew, thanks for the kind words throughout - you guys are even better than a lucky Spitfire. 4
giemme Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Turbo ETS? On a serious note, but still OT: mine is working pretty well with the two standard AA batteries, and I also purposedly don't cut the double sided tape and the sanding paper into a regular shape. Corners help reaching ... corners Ciao 2
wellzy Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Top job Cookie , very nice finish, all round good built Les 1
Cookenbacher Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Thanks Les! I've been enjoying your 1/48 P-38J, it's gonna look great with those invasion stripes.
nimrod54 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Cracking job Cookie. You've achieved a really nice faded look to the paint. 1
Wolwe82 Posted June 28, 2015 Posted June 28, 2015 beautiful work Cooken, love the dusty look of the surface!!! cheers 1
trickyrich Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Nice job Cookie, well done. For some reason my intial comments got lost, maybe because I was doing them in an airport! Anyway, again she's a nice looking plane and you're done a great job on a not quite so easy build. Hope you have fun and glad you finished her. 1
old thumper Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 You have managed to get the perfect finish on this model, the weathering is what I was hunting for while I was building my P-38 but never quite found. 1
