1:72 Tornado GR4 "Dambusters 70th Anniversary" Revell + Mods

Recommended Posts

That is stunning, is any of it actually the original kit?!!

Thanks! Yes, the list of mods is long, but most are small details. Main replacements were cockpit, wheel wells and nose. The original nose wasn't that bad TBH, but the resin version is marginally better by most accounts.

Absolutely cracking! :wow:Lovely subtle paint job too, hope to see it at a show sometime.

Thanks - and thanks also for pointing me in the direction of Tamiya Pla-paper for the canopy frames. Without that stuff the canopy would probably still be unfinished. Really useful for a multitude of applications in 1:72 no doubt.

Congrats on your result at Cosford G, very well deserved but I'd have gone for your build over a cut-away as well.

I'd loved to have seen this in person and ironically I was at Cosford on Saturday. It was the last day of a family break, my wife was at an event at Uttoxeter racecourse and I persuaded the kids a visit to Cosford was a good idea. It certainly was, it's amazing compared to when I was last there in '97. I only twigged there was a model show on as the tables started going up around 1600! Unfortunately we were committed to heading home Sunday morning otherwise I'd have popped back over for an bit. Bad planning on my part.

Once again this is an epic build, and I'm sure it will be the go to guide on how to build a GR.4 from the Revell kit.

Excellent work.

Rgds,

Eng

Thanks Fritag - nice to see you again yesterday. I'm surprised you didn't enter your models.

Thanks very much goose & fiefeitim!

fiefietim - do you fly Tornados? Just wondered from your comment and your avatar.

Garth - he did. QFI no less. It's deserved praise from a man who knows.............

Stupendously great work Doc! Love it! I could almost strap it on and take it airborne (if I was 1:72 the size I am!)! A completely convincing replica!

And had a 1/72 Nav to get you to the runway and tell you which way to point............

'Twas a long time ago Doc - got more years on Airbus now. Glad to see the banter is still there Steve! I gues being weighed down by all the milk you guys used to carry added to the curvature of the earth experience on take-off?
