heloman1
Good afternoon guys. I'd like to jump in if I may, with the 'eller-Airfix Gazelle kit. I'll be building it as one of the FAA display team "The Sharks' based at RNAS Culdrose in 1979. My build will be primarilly OOB but I'll be using the Model Art decals from sheet 72-004. The Sharks markings will fill another hole in my FAA collection. I'll be using the Airifix kit which comes with the flat (sightless) roof glazing. The 'eller kit was a pop of the Airfix kit but with the addition of parts for the armed version used by the ALAT. I could of course take the roof glazing from the Airfix kit and pop it on the 'eller kit but... I hope my choice fits the brief? Colin
jean
Hi Colin, I am sure you are going to produce a masterpiece out of a Series 1 Airfix kit!!! No mean feat with a model displaying so much glazing... I am very surprised to learn that the Heller and Airfix kits are one and the same!!! Who would have thunk it! Have fun JR
SAU
The french guys mirrored the boxart and converted the kit to left-hand drive Edited March 26, 2015 by SAU

milktrip
Good choice Colin, One of my favourite kits as it brings back memories of building kits in my Dad's study in my yoof. (this and the airfix scout).
PaulT 876
Jean Do not forget that Heller and Airfix where once part of the same group of companies back in the late 80's early 90,s and this happened quite a lot. Paul
CliffB
In the helicopter world, the Gazelle is definitely a 'looker'. Nice choice Cliff
Enzo the Magnificent
I'm pleased to see that there are some rotary-winged entries in this GB.
milktrip
I'm also pleased to note this isn't the horrible red plastic version.
EricP
Looking forward to following this build, Colin! I'm also building a helo for this GB with a shrouded tail rotor (a Dauphin 2) I'd like to ask for advice on drooping rotor blades (I asked the same thing in stevej60's thread) ... what's the best way to bend rotor blades to get the characteristic droop? I'm worried about breaking them if I just used my fingers and pressure, plus they may have "memory" and return to their flat molded shape over time. Perhaps my fears are unfounded. heloman1
Oh dear! The 28th of March was my last post, who stole a month and a bit? I have to apologies for my tardy performance in this GB. Family matters had overtaken me plus my desire to finish my Sea King in the STGB. I' have to abandon, please excuse me. My Gazelle will get finished when I find windows that fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone who's looked at my meagre attempt. Colin
Wez
Never mind Colin, I've made plenty of promises but yet to start - in my case it's coursework getting in the way but the end is in sight and modelling can commence! The first helicopter flight I ever had was in a Gazelle although it was a proper one, an HT.3 The view from the LH seat was amazing, buzzing around Ironbridge at low level. Changing the battery in one of these was proof positive the aircraft was designed by the French! It was just so awkward. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this and welcome to the GB.
