PedroPortnoy
Hi guys!I'm going to need some advice on this one...I'm building a Tamiya LaFerrari and in the instructions, part of the dashboard is supposed to be painted flat red (Tamiya XF-7). But there's a small decal that goes over that red.I just want to avoid silvering and the decal coming off after some time, so my questions are:Will it be fine to just use MicroSet/Sol on it? Or should I paint it gloss red (Tamiya X-7) and then use a flatt clear coat? In that case, which flat clear would you recommend, over X-7 (enamel)? Thanks
heloman1
A dot of Johnson's Future (clear acrylic floor cleaner/polish) where the decal is to go dab it with a damp cotton button settle the decals should see you right. You can also brush it onto matt paint to give seats that leather effect. Colin Edited March 25, 2015 by heloman1
Sparzanza
What I usually do for such tiny areas is paint gloss varnish only on the spot that needs a decal. After putting it on with MicroSet and MicroSol, I paint matt varnish over it. I use the Humbrol 35 and 49 varnishes for this purpose, but I'm assuming your Tamiya clears will do the trick as well. Just flat-coat over it when you're done. Every time I use this method, it blows Microscale (and other decal 'solutions') outa the water for a film-free painted-on look!
