JE5TAR Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 (edited) The problem with putting off a project for 20 years is that when you get around to it, it can be too late. I bought the DACO deacls for this model over 20 years ago but only now got around to using them. Unfortunately they had badly degraded resulting in epic silvering. I completed the project anyway and its not too noticable in daylight, though terrible under artificial light. Depressingly not one of my best as its one of my all time favorite schemes! Any comments for suggestions welcome John Edited March 20, 2015 by JE5TAR 11
Graeme H Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Well it looks very good to me, love the intake cover, is that AM?
doozer1974 Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 Shame about the decals, that is a cracking tigermeet scheme!
daco Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Hi John Have you used my DACO Decalsetting solution on these decals? If not and you still want to give it a try, you can still apply the Strong version on top of these decals. Chances are big that the silvering will go away ... SAR_Guy Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Hi love the paint scheme I am in a tiger building mode at the moment and have been looking for these decals with no luck to do the same Gordon
JE5TAR Posted April 7, 2015 Author Posted April 7, 2015 Thanks for all the positive comments. The intake cover was just some aluminium foil shaped and painted. I did attack the decals with both daco and micro sol solutions and it did improve them a bit. I think I just left it too late. The backing sheet had yellowed and some of the decals took a long time to separate in the water. They are stored in a cupboard at room temperature but nearly quarter if a century is a long time. I've never had any issue with Daco decals before and I've got several more colourful f-16s planned!
Rich G Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Really nice, I've not seen this tigermeet scheme before, and being a fan of alternative paint schemes I really like it, well done! Rich
