exdraken
I wanna start my Heller Etendard IV kit, but the kit decals are out of register, and not sooo nice overall is there anything out there to enhance this kit? I only found a sheet from Carpena decals which seems to be nowhere available.... any tips would be appreciated!

iainpeden
I have a vague recollection that Modelart may have done something for the etendard.
exdraken
thanks! yes adapting from the SUE is a possibility and might look better than using the kit decals! only works for a late scheme though! Modelart seems to has done some, but only in 1/72... but looking for these I have found this one: http://www.aviationmegastore.com/dassault-etendard-ivmp--super-etendard-4829-carpena-carp4829-decals/product/?shopid=LM547e01c1b847b64d82c7072466&action=prodinfo&parent_id=0&art=45488 sold out unfortunately... exdraken
hello, I only have the IVM kit, but same problem with the lack of decals and accessories applies to the IVP (recce) version!
Gary West
If you can track them down, you need this set by Colorado http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://images.delcampe.com/img_large/auction/000/042/460/664_001.jpg%253Fv%253D1&imgrefurl=http://www.delcampe.net/page/item/id,42460664,var,ETENDARD-IVMP-SUPER-ETENDARD-decals-148,language,E.html&h=730&w=918&tbnid=ZJPb0db0F4J_NM:&zoom=1&docid=82Dx1TioyLnzpM&itg=1&ei=H_MNVd6LIOf97AaemYG4Dg&tbm=isch&ved=0CE8QMygoMCg As you probably know the M & P Blue versions were fairly devoid of anything exciting, by way of markings but at least the M could carry the Matra pods which should help to sexy her up a little.

There ista cockpit set form Neomega, PE from Extra Tech, markings/ decals for French navy, Argentine navy, and Iraqi Airforce... additionally Heller did a very complete special kit some time ago with lots of resin updates! The Syhart decals are for a SEM (Tigermeet and "100 years of French Naval operations") thanks everyboody, will keep on searching!

exdraken
Which one will you choose? hmm actually don't know yet.... the No. 5 (prototype?) with the french tricolore on the rudder and the Etendard flagh on the nose looks very tempting! I am looking for additional references at the moment I have Histoire&collections Super Etendard booklet, which is very nice with some interesting Etendard IVM pictures, but as the title says generally for the Super Etendard... any ideas? found this website: http://www.ffaa.net/aircraft/etendard/characteristics.htm http://www.ffaa.net/aircraft/etendard/etendard%20UPG.htm with interesting operational history and load out options
Antoine
N°5 is indeed interesting, and was used to test électric, electronic and hydraulic equipments, together with armaments. But as a testbird, she was different from line aircraft in a number of way. Bigand was later killed on the Mirage F1 prototype. If you ask me, I'll go for n°36 with its MFG-1 tag.
Don McIntyre
Those look like very nice decals. Although, I'll only ever build one Etendard, there are definitely a couple tempting items on that sheet...
exdraken
got this sheet, it really looks nice! and it is quite big! decals are in register and color looks spot on to me compared to the kit decals (left) which provide decals for an early scheme (1980) with bigger yellow circled roundels and white codes and a late more low viz scheme (1990) with smaller roundels without the yellow ring and grey codes and MARINE titles the kit roundels are not centered unfortunately (the anchor is off to the right ) interestingly the bigger, early kit roundels are bigger than FFSCM ones... soooo I still favour a bit the prototype scheme No 5 ..... we will see! maybe with a AS-30 guided missile on a test mission? would this be mounted on the right as with the SUE/ SEM? with an external tanks to balance it? exdraken
thanks everybody so far! apart from noew surfaced decals, there seems to nothing , NOTHING! available for the not so new Entendard IVM and IVP kitsm that were released several times by Heller and by Airfix! strange indeed no PE set, no resin cockpit, hardly and decals. hardly any books, nothing recent! quite an elusive kit and plane! how accurate would be the resin cockpit for the Super Etendard? instrument panel will be different, but the rest? same seat, no? Martin Baker MK IV, Thanks again Werner Edited April 2, 2015 by exdraken
Gary West
I agree Werner - I very recently built the IV P and Im currently building the SuE so over these past 2 months Ive done quite a bit of research into the Etendard family - its as if the Etendard IV M & P didnt exist and life began with the SuE - I suspect that sadly a couple of exocet missiles could have increased its notoriety!!! Personally I wouldnt bother with a resin pit, the areas so small, but I would put in a resin seat though. However if you prefer to do so, Id happily use the SuE pit and yes Im sure there are differences, but again because its such a small area and unless you highlight what you've done, who would know?? Not sure if you've seen this site, if not have a read through and ot covers off evertything you need to know about the differences..http://www.airvectors.net/aveten.html Edited April 3, 2015 by Gary West
vesthepes
Like Gary said, I also think the seat is enough, it's really cramp in there. Here's a nice subject for your build... https://youtu.be/umYjVBQYKno
