Oh.. so much time has passed by! I also took a break and built the cute little Airfix 1/72 Airborne Jeep.. what a brilliant little kit.. it helped me move onward with, well, first, the BP Defiant kit (which goes together like butter) but also back to "beginning to finish" this kit... here's where we currently stand in "The World's Longest Work In Progress Build For A 1/72 Tiger Moth" (I'm giving it that title... too bad :D)

Paint applied, decals applied, details worked on, some rigging done.. more rigging TO be done.. engine still needs paint etc. etc. etc. Hopefully this coming week I'll have time since I'm off from work (vacation)..

Oh.. and I finally snagged a macro lens for the Sony A7.. so if the photos are "too big".. let me know.. I'll resize them accordingly.

That looks really very well done, great attention to detail!

Looking forward to seeing this completed

The yellow looks good and the decals are nice too! I would suggest doing the cockpit edges in yellow too. Your tail wheel seems to be buckling under the pressure though - time to raid the spares box?

[edit] I forgot you are doing a canopy version, so you probably have your own plans for cockpit edges...

Adrian

I've left the cockpit edges "as is" ... canopy is already in place :(

Regarding the tail wheel.. I just used what was included in the kit.. yep.. it's in there.. but it's not the right type... but I'm not going to stress it too much.. if necessary.. a little cut and, as you mentioned Adrian, a trip to the spares box... :)

Taking a bit of a break from the extremely tedious scratch built interplane struts.... port side (or is it starboard?) is complete... one more side to go!!

Dave

Ahh progress... (and vacation.. hence the progress)... :D

I've been slogging away at this and even though there are some "meh" errors/mistakes... I'm pretty happy with how she's looking so far. Engine is now painted and ready to be mounted onto the brackets on the fuselage. Top wing is on. Rigging is complete. Canopy is on (and painted). I'm getting close.... really really close :)

I scratchbuilt the interplane struts from Albion Alloys thin walled brass tube (good stuff that!!), added detail to the very nice Aeroclub engine, scratchbuilt the bottom of the engine mount and engine cowling pieces (not shown) and scratchbuilt the exhaust shroud (again from a combination of albion alloys and master tools brass tubing).

Looking forward to next steps!!

Dave

Engine mounted.... various support braces added... exhaust shroud added.. wheels on.. some final touch ups completed. Now I just have to figure out IF I want to actually attach the cowling pieces to her. I don't want to hide the engine (it's really nice I think) but at the same time, it would look good posed with the cowling pieces flipped up akin to the photo above posted by Jessica.. hmm... decisions decisions...

I don't know how I managed to miss this thread but there is some great work going on here!

Thanks Chris, Martin... :)

After some contemplation, I'm going to leave the cowling off but "on the ground" - now to get an appropriate base for her and do some minor groundwork.. I'll take some more photos once I have her "done" :D

Cheers,

Dave
