Rob1970
It's that time of the year again! The Annual Easter Egg Hunt! (at another forum, but meh... I like to share my wackiness...) Last year I did a scratchbuild AT-ST with an eggy twist, this year I'd thought I'd stick to the theme. Aaaand we're off! And like any egg that's off... you need to clean them! Begone, foul spots! Only took a bit of scrubbing with a sponge and some nailpolish remover... Groovy... Speaking of groovy... this thing needs a trench. How can you have a trench-run without a trench? So we sacrifice one egg to make a guide to draw some parallel lines... Sorted! Two halves make a whole... One half -gets- a hole... ...aaaand the hole gets another half... CA-glue, some kicker, a sanding stick and a little elbow-grease later we have a massive planet-killing laser cannon dish thingy! And now we start working on making those halves whole again... Cutting more discs... and holes in the discs... Each half gets a disc... Another disc to separate the two halves... And we have a whole(ish) egg again... One egg gets sacrificed so I can draw parallel lines on another egg... That's number 3... And we cut the egg to pieces... ...and we glue all the pieces to the first egg... Halfway there... Rob1970
In the nicest possible way Rob, you are effing mental! This is brilliant! Uhm.... thank you? All greebled up... (And yes, that's a word... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeble ) Paint time! Grey primer first... (I ran out of egg-shell white...) Pre-shade... And covered in RLM 84, Light Grey and a dusting of Gunmetal Black Metallic. The effect is very subtle. Alas too sublte for a camera... And a coat of Klear... Ready for a wash as soon as the it's dried thoroughly. Next; working on the stand and preparing for Stage Two (Dun-dun Duuuunnnnn!) More sooooon! Rob1970
Time to take a stand! Or make a stand...Printed out a line drawing of the Imperial logo and glued it to a piece of 0.25mm styrene with a paper-glue stick, then pierced each corner with a needle.A nice fresh hobby blade and some cuts later...I glued it to the bit of egg-base I was already using, just need to make a few cuts here and there to make the flat piece conform to the curved surface.Filled in all the cuts with some CA-glue gave it all a bit of sanding...A coat of primer, then a layer of Gunmetal Black Metalic, and a drybrush with Bright Brass... very shiny after a coat of Klear. And tomorrow I hopefully get the stuff I need for Phase Two...More sooooon!Rob

Rob1970
Phase Two...More eggs!!Hmm... too small...Better!It needs a nose-job tho... Starting with a strip of 1.5x2mm styrene around the nose...Creative clamping...Building up the rim...More styrene stock... until we have some mass to sand into shape...And a lot (and I mean A LOT) of sanding to get it into shape...Filled some holes with CA-glue, and the seams as well...Can you see what it's going to be yet? Some square tubing as a base for the canopy...Front and rear...Side one and two, one side trimmed up...Time to do some framing...All framed up...And a hole for a loyal little Astromech...Tomorrow we make some wings for this thing. How many? An x-number of wings perchance..?More sooooon!Rob
