Evening all.

I've just picked up a Hasegawa 4 blade prop typhoon mk1b kit in 1/48 scale. Cracking little kit.

Down fall is that the decals have badly yellowed and are not usable.

Now what i've tried doing is sorcing decals for a 4 blade typhoon mk1b and there just isn't any around I can find, so firstly, is you find some aftermarket decals, please post a link for me.

The other option i can think of is to purchase a revell/monogram typhoon, the below kit.

Take the decals and dispose of the kit parts.

but what would be extremely helpful is i'm looking for a copy of the instruction manual, even just a couple of pics on the forums here, just purely the decal options that come with the kit and the painting instructions.

The old Mono kit is actually decent, very good shapewise, and has better fishplates than the Hase kit!

IIRC the hase 4 blade prop is a bit skinny as well.

Ask for decals, Aeromaster did lots of sheets, also, have you tried writing to Revell of germany to buy just the decals?

Note, most hase decals are poo anyway, wrong colours for a start.

EDIT PS

The recent Revell issue may have useable decals, but the older Monogram ones are likely to be bad.

Montex do masks, I have a mask set for the sharkmouth markings.

Ultracast stock OOP decals, http://www.ultracast.ca/Aircraft%20Decals%20-%2048%20Scale%20-%20Typhoon.htm

expensive, but maybe of use to give you an idea what to ask for.

Are the decals also cracked?

If it is just discolouration, tape them to a window facing outside and they should clear up in a few days.

regards,

Jack

Yes, you can remove the yellow with sunlight, but from discussion here it's a chemical change and they will probably go yellow again.

Also, put them in a zip loc bag before taping them to the window, and use a south facing one. Left too long and you fade them too.

I have an Aeromaster sheet, with two car-door FM-B & JE-D, plus four bubble canopy, F3-T, BR-M, I8-R & TP-F, which is surplus to requirements, since I have the 1/24 kit to build. PM me with an address, and I can post it off next week sometime.

I can offer instructions and decals from Monogram 6841, it has

RB222 no.198 Squadron ~Battle of the Falaise Gap August 1944

TP (in Red) F (in Yellow)

Yellow spinner

looks like 3 "kill" marks for tanks and 4 for trucks under the canopy on the left.

on the right there is a "leaping"tiger.

and...

JP149 no. 440 Squadron

Royal Canadian Air Force October 1945

"PULVERIZER II

markings to me look like I8 P

Black spinner.

yours for the cost of reimbursing packing and postage.

note: Large roundels for the upper wing were removed from the sheet-you should be able to replace these.
