Can you make a Spit IXe from Tamiya IXc ?

I have the 1/32 Tamiya IXc but would like to do an "e". Are there any conversion parts for the tail and other detail changes?

To be honest I am not 100% sure of all the mods but want to do one in 111 Sqn colours

I recall PCM did an e in 1/32 but it's OOP and I have a Tamiya kit lurking in the stash

What you don't get is the detail bits for the 'e' armament configuration. There is a "conversion set", I'm thinking either AlleyCat or Greymatter, can't remember. Or you can beg, borrow (?) or steal the bits from the Tamiya XVI.

It was Alley Cat that did a partial conversion, it has the outboard cannon bulges and the inboard 0.5"/outboard cannon inserts but not the lower wing changes. In Hannants' future releases section there's an 'e' wing conversion coming from AML: http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/AMLA3203. A quick look on the AML eShop shows the detail: http://www.eshop.aml.cz/lang-en/pur-set-1-32/883-spitfire-mkixe-resin-conversion-set.html; this has a new lower panel, so should be a better option (and almost certainly cheaper than buying the XVI sprues!)

I have the Alley Cat set which has it's problems and does not include the underwing panels. The AML set looks a lot better. As it happens I purchased the sprue from the Tamiya Mk XVI after receiving the kit itself as a Xmas gift. The AML set includes the exterior blisters for the bulged undercarriage bay, but I can't see if it includes the internal bulged roof for the bay which Tamiya includes on their sprue.

Thanks Chaps

In the end I bit the bullet and bought a PCM model on eBay from a very nice chap who posts on here from time to time

Thanks for all the advice but looks like my sanity required a cash splash

The PCM kit is a great kit to build, one of my most enjoyable builds, just be aware there are one or two pitfalls, nothing major if you know about them. One to be aware of is that if you assemble the fuselage you will get a gap on the wing/fuselage upper surface join, my fix was to leave the nose unglued until the wing was attached and then fill the gap with plasticard. If you search WIP on this kit you won't go wrong.
