Looking great Hunter :thumbsup2:

Bootiful matey. Absolutely bootiful. :goodjob:

Thanks a lot guys! :)

Got a nice chunk of shed time yesterday so was able to make some good progress.

Started with the eye detail, gave it a base coat of a black/silver/brown mix

20150515_133544_zpsgx310t9a.jpg

Then used some some standard rust and old rust pigments to enhance the rusty look in places

20150517_133029_zpsr5n3msxa.jpg

And grabbed some enamel paints and brushed some colour onto the wires and pipes

20150517_134814_zpsk6tfbthb.jpg

Then I used a darker black/red/yellow mix to add some chips to the front of the eye cap

20150517_134825_zpsky2ad7mq.jpg

And added some grime with old rust pigment

20150517_135042_zpsjbnyjwxe.jpg

So its now done and in place in the which meant I can now continue with the head, using the same chipping mix for the eye cap I painted the recess where I've left off an inspection panel, and dipped in a piece of small rough sponge with tweezers and added paint chips here and there. I never have a plan when doing this, I just put them where I feel they would be and stop when it feels right.

20150517_145354_zpsi22fd8o6.jpg

And while I had the paint brush out I mixed up another black/red/yellow enamel mix and added the base old metal colour to the back of the leg stabilisers, the leg fixing point, the rocket tube mounts and also sponged it over my base engine colour to add a tarnished steel look

20150517_152333_zps1dsthzud.jpg

I also made a small start on the foot detail before I ran out of time. The heel flap is now dry in its new position

20150514_133934_zpsx0wqwy1k.jpg

For now all I've done is cover over where the leg pokes into the foot

20150514_133942_zps4sa8il1k.jpg

20150515_134252_zpskk4zjhe8.jpg

Next I'll add some struts and bits and bobs to finish off so I can get on with priming and painting the legs.

Thanks for looking, more soon :)

I love the pigment stage, may add a little bright rust in literally just a couple of places before sealing it all.

But foot will be next.

Thanks for looking, more soon :)

Like it.

Yes, maybe a little lighter

shade of rust in places?

I was wondering, If it's on a

river bank, maybe some ropes

and stakes to stop it being

washed away?

It would add a 'captured monster'

element. (Well I think so, anyway).

Thanks Pete, I have since added some light rust now and it looks better for it (pics in the next update).

I like the 'captured monster' idea, My groundwork and composition isn't fully sorted yet so thats definitely food for thought

This just gets better and better! I can't wait to see the finished article. I'm sure it'll be incredible.

Cheers Dan! I hope so!! :)

Another small update, got the foot detail sorted, so I can get the leg primed

20150520_132320_zpsxu8qw6cz.jpg

20150520_134757_zpst9bevi7i.jpg

20150520_134747_zpsoynb3vh6.jpg

And I painted the rear of the chin and back armor armor plates a base rust colour, which I also sponged on the front for chips

20150520_133840_zpsipjdtqaw.jpg

20150520_134219_zps4w0fbsza.jpg

20150520_134212_zpsqb4wooj5.jpg

And I added some light rust to the head to accentuate the rusted areas

20150519_134551_zpsggcieiin.jpg

20150519_134608_zpscbdvztqo.jpg

20150519_134619_zps2ilxkodg.jpg

Next I'll get the leg sprayed and the grey and continue the chipping on other parts

Thanks for looking, more soon :)

I got the back and chin armor flat coated and pigmented, so the chin armor is now in place on the head.

20150521_132848_zpsa1xvhuho.jpg

20150521_132810_zps1iyos9se.jpg

20150521_132821_zpsuoijfmfd.jpg

I dipped the broken leg into some boiling water so I could give it a bit more of a bend, so I got it primed, and then sprayed it and the other leg in the same sky grey as the rest.

20150521_133958_zpssyypt2ks.jpg

Next up its time to start chipping and pigmenting the main body so I can start to get it together.

Thanks for looking, more soon :)

Update time! Had nice afternoon modelling in the shed, really wanted to be able to make a start getting the main body bits on, so started by pigmenting the engine bits with old rust/standard rust/light rust so they are done and ready to go

20150524_143634_zps7boea4cg.jpg

20150524_144139_zpsw9qro4rr.jpg

20150524_144233_zpsdr9p1quj.jpg

Then I mixed some enamels for my chipping mix which was sponged over the main body

20150524_144313_zpsje0bwna0.jpg

20150524_144322_zpsjlkrpjus.jpg

Then I went through my pigment routine, graveyard dirt (a very dark black brown) for grime and shadow, and to help break up the colour focusing on edges/dips/details

20150524_144943_zpsygajhxz7.jpg

20150524_144949_zpstkmeaoin.jpg

20150524_144956_zps2ne4qt3f.jpg

And then switched to light rust/standard rust/old rust to highlight rusted ares and break up the tone of graveyard dirt in place

20150524_145349_zpsqdojp6yp.jpg

20150524_145359_zpsdcieffaw.jpg

20150524_145417_zpsqfqjefd2.jpg

Then applied the same regime to the leg stabilisers

20150524_150559_zpsrerrxcyr.jpg

20150524_150857_zps09etgsez.jpg

And then finally time to get it all together

20150524_154309_zpspooug3y9.jpg

20150524_154515_zpsfknf7mic.jpg

20150524_154944_zps6h1wy1gu.jpg

20150524_154954_zpswpahb6z1.jpg

So now thats done, next I'll work on the upper part of the torso and the rocket tubes so I can get the rest of the body together

Thanks for looking, more soon :)

Thank you Rene!

Thanks Andy!

You can apply them wet or dry, if you use mineral spirits you can use it like a wash so it can get into crevices, but I never do that. And they stick way better than chalk (though I always airbrush on matte fixer to hold them in place) , and the colour is a lot stronger. I cant recommend using them enough, with a bit of practice they quickly and easily add so much to the look of a model. The price of them may seem steep, but 1 small pot will last years, you dont need much.

No probs mate :)

Just a quick update, I've got the rear armor plate on

20150527_130708_zpsq9ye8zfs.jpg

Chipped the rocket tubes

20150527_130653_zpssxbcyani.jpg

20150527_130643_zpsz5ma1fwk.jpg

And then after pigmenting got them attached, going to have them at a more dynamic pose so it looks a bit more interesting when its collapsed on the floor, and did a dry fit of the top part on the main body.

20150527_132755_zpstujyybfg.jpg

20150527_132843_zpshj9omxtj.jpg

20150527_132855_zps5vhtnqe8.jpg

Next up I'll do the spring cables from the stabilisers to the leg and body and then it can be all glued in place, and I'll start chipping and pigmenting the legs. So the damaged gans is not far off done!

Thanks for looking, more soon :)
