Driver66
This kit arrived today, hope it assembles well, first impressions are of a very beautifully moulded kit, the best resin castings I've ever seen.

general melchett
I've been asked by Airfix Model World to build and review one of these little beauties for the magazine. From what I understand the resin mouldings are amongst the best around...(the normally chilled out editor Chris Clifford is jumping up and down about it so it must be good !).....looking forward to it.

I'll have to get a copy of that issue! Any hints and tips about the new kit will be most useful.
general melchett
Just received the kit from AMW today and must say I'm mightily impressed with the quality of the mouldings !...absolutely superb and by far the best resin I've come across, and I've made a few. Totally flawless, the detail on the wings and tail planes has to be seen to be believed, (get the impression that I like it !). Looking forward to getting it started in the near future.

Navy Bird
Bill if you get the chance to get hold of one do so......it's almost a crime to put paint on it.........almost ! Yes, sah! Just placed an order for a red one from UMM-USA, along with a whole lot of other stuff that I'm told I don't need. But what does wifey know? The price from UMM was OK, $40. Cheers, Bill PS. Methinks I'll put paint on this one! EDIT: I received the kit, and the General's advice was well taken. This is one superb set of resin castings, they should be framed and hung on the wall at the Louvre. I received the Black and Gold kit by mistake - I thought about keeping it, but it wouldn't look right without John Player Lotus decals. I sent it back and got the Red and Green version. Now the big question is...red or green?

Denford
The resin parts appear very similar in material and casting method to those of the superb 'Attack Squadron' Spitfire Xl. The only difference is in the clear parts. Those of the Comet are cast, but of the Spitfire are of acetate sheet. Quite tempted to buy a Comet! general melchett
Beautiful little kit..OK the fit isn't perfect but then very few resins really are and everything in the cockpit is a pretty tight fit but if you take your time it's a breeze plus as an added bonus the thing bounces off tiled floors.......ask me how I know !, (just need someone to do some canopy masks for it now).. Bill, green all the way, just looks so right.
