rossm Posted February 24, 2015 Share Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) 'Dinghy Drop' - the 279 history states they had their first Hurricane on 3rd Dec 1944 (PG490) with others being delivered through December and one in Jan 45. It states the first operational sortie was a search in conjunction with a Warwick on 27 February - the preceding page gives details of a search on 23 Feb by two Hurricanes but they were already airborne on a training sortie so I suppose that doesn't count.
