Col.
if I understand the historical period goes from 1980 to 1989? Not before and not after.... Damn!! My Polish MiG 21 PFM kit is of 1994 ...........but probably I've a SAAB Draken 1/72 scale Ettore Depends if the PFM was also in service with Poland prior to 1990. The Draken was certainly in Dansh service and they were a founding member of NATO. Speaking of Drakens, how do Sweden, Finland, Austria and Switzerland stand re this GB? Well they were members of neither NATO or the Warsaw Pact. On the other hand they would have no doubt been dragged into any major conflict between the two forces but alas the Nordic GB didn't attract sufficient votes to appear as a 2016 GB so I'd say save their subjects for another event. Ettore
Yeeeeesssssssss !! MiG 21 PFM was in Polish service from 1967 until 1983 ( version SPS, in 1983), 16 years of service with all upgrades. I post this link for all user, MiG-21 in Polish Service: http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/Aircraft_by_Type/Polish_MiG-21.htm Anyway I would do this MiG in North Vietnamese version, I think a little...... Flashman
Up for this in a heartbeat, I'm a cold war obsessive with a dozen different stash items that would fit the bill.
AntPhillips
Having disposed of a lot of my non-FAA stash, I'm a bit short of suitable kits, although I've got a 1/48 Airfix Jaguar and an Academy MiG-21MF that would fit the bill, although I'll have to find suitable decals for the MiG as my kit doesn't have any. Well I've bitten the bullet and after remembering that the Academy MiG-21MF is actually closer to a MiG-21bis I've gone and bought a set of Hi-Decal Line decals which includes an '89 vintage Soviet MiG-21bis, the kit will need a bit of tweaking with regard to aerial fit etc. but I'm looking forward to this one now, and the start date is my birthday, so no chance of forgetting it.
Arniec
Ehh Guys, thanxs for the Draken tip. I still have a Hasegawa one in 1/48 in the stash with this decalsheet: http://masm.fr/Decal/europe/MaestroModel72005d.JPG I have got loads of goodies for it as well. Cheers,
Col.
There's a Revell 72nd scale Tornado IDS kit in the stash that could be matched to an Aires resin 'pit and some Modeldecals for a German Marineflieger machine in the early dark grey over light grey finish
mungo1974
Think i'll go with a 1/32 Revell F-4E for this. I have all the goodies to turn the 'Vanilla' F-4E into a late ARN-101 jet.... Markings will be Spangdahlem 480th TFS circa 1982/3 in the classic SEA scheme when the Warhawks were tasked with the 'Victor Alert' Nuclear role. Already have a 1/32 B61 Nuke donated by another BM member.....so it would be the perfect time to build it for this GB.
MiGFan79
I'm thinking Mig-21MF, possibly the Academy boxing with a resin spine / tail, in the the guise of a JG3 bird from Preschen in the DDR. Been wanting to build one for a while and saw the DDR one at Coventry earlier this year.

SAU
Anyone know if the DDR Fishbeds would of carried a nuclear weapon on the forward hardpoint during the GB period in question? The short answer is yes, on the ventral pylon. http://www.16va.be/armement_nucleaire_eng.htm http://www.mig-21.de/deutsch/technikbewaffnung.htm Then you need the control unit in the cockpit too http://www.flugzeugforum.de/threads/58674-MiG-21-als-Kernwaffentraeger (Unfortunately, you can't see the picture if you're not logged in)

Fin
So, the period covered here would be from the first day of 1980 to the last day of 1989?

fids
Just stumbled across this one :-) I have for some time been thinking about using Clancy's book as a long term project. Romeo and Hammer (navy lynx and early seahawk) always appealed as an attractive duo. You also, as far aesthetics are concerned, cannot beat grey and green Luftwaffe F4 or Alphajet wait out
