Imperial Battlestar Galactica ?

Hmm. I've been umm-ing and aah-ing about this one for a while now, so thought I'd stick it on here to see if anybody had any views on it. I've not gone with the kit instructions on this one (evidently) as far as the colour scheme goes, trying my old layered drybrushing / washes rigmarole to see if I could get close to the look of the cgi, but I have a sneaking feeling it looks a bit like a refugee from the Star Wars universe – not a bad thing in itself, but woefully un-canon! True, the camera flash has made it look lighter and whiter than it is in real life, but I think it still might be a tad pale. I'm toying with the idea of giving it another coat of silvery-tinted varnish. Good idea? Bad idea?

I've left the front probulon thingy off as at some point the model's going to go in the post, and that'll go for a burton for certain. Other than that, oob, (Revell boxing) and had great fun building it, despite the obvious bloopers (Don't look too closely at the alignment of the sidepod interior decals, inter alia)

I think it looks simply fab! A bit like the scheme I went for on mine. Looking through all the shows you can see different "looks" depending on angle and lighting. Plus it's sci-fi so a bit of artistic licence is OK.

The silver tinted varnish sounds like it would work, maybe with a bit of black added to darken it? To be honest, I always thought the CG model in the show was too dark anyway. Your version brings the detail out much better.

Thanks for the interest chaps! Comments gratefully noted. I'm planning on trying out some tinted varnish approaches on some scrap AFV bodies painted pale grey; if any of these experiments looks successful I might just give it a go... will post pics in due course. d

I think that's pretty good and I did exactly the same with the landing pod decals so it must be wrong in the instructions, colours good as you say the camera makes it look lighter , personally I'd give it a dry brush of oil back wait for about 10/15 minutes then wipe the excess off with a kitchen towel so it just darkens the surface a tad but leaves the metallic look ,any stubborn dark patches can then be dry brushed with your metallic base coat you used

Very good and I wouldn't be upset with sitting on my shelf
