chuck314d
It is titled "British Aviation Colours of World War Two, Volume Three. Part of the RAF Museum Series. It is mainly reprints of official instructions on RAF colors and it is rather dry reading. I bought it mainly because it contains a page of camouflage paint chips at the back, and I have always wondered just how accurate these facsimile paint chips are. Anyone familiar with this publication?

Trenton guy
Why? It's a great question. I, too, have the book and am just about to use it to try to mix up some Light and Dark Mediterrean Blue using Modelmaster paints; an exercise made necessary by the embargo on the international shipment of my paint of choice, Xtracolor . Yes, it's that Trenton. I would expect an RAF Museum publication to be quite accurate but confirmation is always welcome. Bill
Procopius
I believe this book is rated quite highly by those who care about accurate colour reproduction.
Black Knight
Wot he says. I believe that book is rated as the bee's knees.
stevehnz
I also have this old book & regard it as one of my treasures. I think I'm on safe ground when I say there is no better resource for accurate RAF colours without going into official archives. Steve
Seahawk
Like many others here, I regard this work as the definitive source for accurate RAF WW2 colours: the RAF Museum took particular pains to get the paint chips absolutely right. Like you, I hardly ever look at anything else but the paint chips (though it's handy to know where all those painting instructions are when you need them). You have a treasure. If you don't believe me, see how much it goes for on the second hand market.
Hepster
I see from a quick search that used copies retail for between £47 and £95 - look after it!
Loft-full
How strange. I've just been lent a copy of this book on Saturday. .............£47 - £95 (I'll let the owner know). I'd best be extra careful.
chuck314d
I thought about deleting my posting because I never had anyone answer. I also own a copy of a book titled "Messerschmidt '09 Gallery", ( I think that's the title) that contains paint chips of Luftwaffe aircraft. And NO I don't want to sell it.
