Looks a nice build, but not sure about the cowling fronts, look a bit wide to me, maybe it is a combination of the bright cowling rings and angle of the photo. We shall have to wait and see, interesting that they have included the extended wingtips,

The engine cowlings appear to be oversized again ...

I hope I am wrong on this.

They do look to have quite large an opening, but if excessively so then wrapping a piece of microstrip around the inside would fix it as it does the Airfix. The undercarriage seems to sit a little too far below the wing, and the wheels are presumably the same undersize ones. However, this just provides a short list of things to look for when the plastic actually reaches our hands.

I've not seen an indication that the Mk.VI is provided as an option. That would mean slightly altered position of the exhausts (I don't remember which offhand) and ideally but not necessarily the Type D tail turret with two 0.5 guns. This was missing from the original sprue views so I don't expect to get it, but it would be nice.

I`m glad that they have included the longer wingtips of the later B.III and subsequent versions, but the cowling fronts still look too wide to me and the props look a bit suspect (flat blades and small hub?),......both can be fixed but it will be a real shame if they don`t get them right in the kit as there is so much information out there to use as reference including a beautifully restored real Halifax in Canada (please don`t copy the nacelles of the Elvington one!) . Otherwise it means altering the kits cowling`s and buying after market props.

I hope that they include a better (thinner) clear nose section as the current kit one is abysmal (so is the one in the B-17) and an optional later BP Type D turret would be fantastic as I intend to build a post war Airborne Forces version.

Still looks better than the MkI/II/V though!

Cheers

Tony

You may still be able to get a Magna one, which provides for a Halton or a number of civil Mk.VIIIs, including a large decal sheet. Decals have always been the problem, as there have been a number of bombbay/tail conversions available in the past. And no doubt will be again, once this is out. I'll throw out a line asking for a Lancashire one.

No, think decals! Lancashire Aircraft Corporation was one of the main, if not the main, operator of civil Halis. They ended up running the fuel tankers into Berlin, although I think Bond also had some of those. I have two Airfix QL bowser tanks which have been in store for a golden day - plus a tube or two of filler.

interesting .... merlin nacelles as well ?

But no nacelle fronts or Merlin props, although these were best replace with aftermarket items on the original kit anyway
