So the big parts clean up begins, thick and thin CA glues to be used

with some 5 min epoxy for some of the load bearing parts.

Thinking of brass pinning the suspension swing arms and the rear track adjuster just to make sure.

So a question for those who got up and personal with this vehicle, the L37 GPMG, how were the belts fed?

No external ammo box in the kit so I'm thinking that it was stored inside the commanders cupola and fed up to the

gun? But I can find no pictures of the area that gives it away? Help !! I'll probably convert a live resin GPMG to fit the mount,

these babies are light years away from anything else I've seen for a kit. I'll have to stock up on them !

So the running gear, lots to clean up, I won't bother with the resin tracks as they are a right royal

pain to fit, Fruils all the way. This is going to take some time :weep:

Hello mate watching this and as a bonus served several years on these with the RAF Regiment.

15 Sqn perhaps, RAF Hullavington ? I've posed a question on the GPMG and how it was fed above, you possibly could help ?

Sorry mate yes 15..and 34 Cyprus .

The rounds are fed to the left of the GPMG as normal .there is a small oblong hatch which come off .it sits between the electronic gubbins that provide power to fire the gun. Does that make sence

Hi,

I spent hours, days, weeks in that beast !

Back in 88 in Belgian army.

Looking forward to this too. Always wanted to represent "my" platoon Charlie Squadron : 2 scorpions and 2 scimitars. Accurate Armours kits of course.

Long time ago ... Call sign Charlie 2.6

Cheers

Eric

Sailvating at the prospect of watching this. First question, what do you use and how do get the parts off the sprue?

Carefully :-)

I use a tamiya razor saw with the small blade, a scriber and just keep scoring around the parts and finally a scalpel with a new blade.

The secret is too just take your time. Final clean up with a sanding stick.

Spent a lot of time today cleaning up parts and getting things ready,

Most of the running gear is ready for assembly and 50% of the upper hull parts

Have been cleaned up , should be relatively quick in assembly apart from the tracks

Which will take a few evenings to fit together.

Pictures tomorrow for you all ;-)

Onto business then, loads of cleaning up

to do on this kit, it's date stamped 1991 and think that

some of the moulds need a bit updating TBH.

CIMG4377_zpshybxfnlz.jpg

A big seam on the front that requires attention, nothing drastic that Mr Surfacer won't sort.

The running gear , the sprockets are worst part of this kit, you'll notice that one is missing a few teeth

they were awkward to clean up as the casting lug is almost now part of the moulding. the missing teeth will be hidden by the tracks.

Still for an old kit the detail is still very nice.

Next up is pinning the swing arms and getting the road wheels on.

Is there any interior detail on this kit Dan? I got my 43 in the stash and it has a fair bit of interior detail, so much so i am tempted to make 3 Triffid stations to fit in (Well if everything else goes together and i don't launch the thing out of the window)

Not looking forward to the wheels myself i have ordered some Airwave razor saw frets especially.

Thanks for pathfinding ....... again

Nothing included interior wise for this kit but it wouldn't take much

to do, but I'm not going to before anyone asks :-)

The wheels are fine with little or no issue, it's the sprockets and rear idlers that require much care in removing.

The swing arms are showing a little sign of mould wear and require a touch of filler to put right.

The rest of the kit is fine just care is required removing the parts.

Starting to add bits to the hull, First up the exhaust and guard, I've tacked the guard in PVA glue so I can remove it

for painting. The PE part was annealed to make it curve easier.

The guard first part.
