dwh
They had this option. More info here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffman_engine_starter
markjames68
Coffman starter Damned exciting film, the original James Stewart film is a better character study, the modern remake has more action and better effects...
Robin-42
I'm not so sure about better effects in the remake. They flew the aircraft in the original as I recall. The stunt pilot was unfortunately killed. The story is somewhere on the web.
markjames68
Im aware of the crash that killed talman, the plane though was never a proper and accurate rehash of a c119 though, especially the one they used post crash for pickup shots, the one in the new movie never flew and only had forward motion by being mounted on a digitally removed'dolly but was much more accurate in terms of how the airframe would appear when cobbled together and the crash in the new movie , whilst ridiculously ott was well well done with digital sound to match, the cartridge start sequence was however far better in the original film as they had managed to build the tension and despereation far better than its modern counterpart, somewhere in the middle if you cobble the 2 movies together is a perfect film..... Dave Swindell
Im aware of the crash that killed talman, Paul Mantz, not Frank Tallman, both halves of Tallmantz Aviation
markjames68
Paul Mantz, not Frank Tallman, both halves of Tallmantz Aviation Oops, you are right of course, interestingly, i seem to remember that Tallman was the pilot of the Grumman Duck in murphys war and at the time he flew it he only had one leg due to a go karting accident....
