bobmig
The new Airfix C-47 kit arrived a couple days ago! It's a 'test-bed' for some future decals of Berlin Airlift C-47s that I'm hoping to produce. I'm researching schemes and markings now, and test fitting the decal print-out on an actual model is always my last step before sending the files to the printer. I have a few aircraft in the file already, but if anyone has any pics of C-47s or Dakotas used in the Berlin Airlift I'd love to see them. Just original aircraft though please… no museum examples. As a teaser I'm including a couple of aircraft for which I have little chance of ever finding the complete markings. The C-47 came down short of the Wiesbaden runway on a return trip from Berlin in bad weather in July 1948. I've discovered that the E.A.D. probably stands for European Air Depot. And I would sure love to find the full markings for this RAF Dakota!
