wombat
Interesting stuff about the trigger’s broom issue with respect to preservation. An unavoidable problem of course, but switching away from the naval, my mind was blown to learn that the Flying Scotsman got through a new boiler every year or two it was in main line service, and regular replacement of most moving parts, due to the thousands of miles it was running each month that would take a decade to run now. arguably even now it has more common parts with the version of itself at the end of its mainline life, than that version of itself did with when it was first manufactured.
