Mirage GB chat

You won't need an hour, as their are many accounts by ex-pilots and fitters. In French...

I do struggle with understanding spoken French (much more than I struggle with written French - although, to be fair, that too is a struggle at times), primarily because my brain can't process the information quickly enough and I'm not a linguist, I do like to try though!

Hello

I should be in for a possible GB and obviously ready to vote for.

Patrick

Patrick,

Welcome along, we are in the vote as a carry over from last year but the only way to get it through the vote is to keep on drumming up support to make sure we get the votes in the poll, the latest list of names looks like this, those in red have signed up for the GB this time around, those in black are from the first time around although there's plenty of time to sign up and I'm sure we can count on their vote...

But according to Hammy you are French!

A Mirage 2000 would be most welcome.

I have Italeri's 2000C (in Tamiya boxing) and 2000D. I intend to build one or the two in the GB.

I also have Italeri Kfir.

Cheers

Jaime

The Kfir would be most welcome too, I like the idea of doing either an Ecuadorian or Columbian one myself.

Well there certainly are some exotic options in this kit - I particularly like the Lebanese and Brazilain jets http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234978633-172-dassault-mirage-iiiccjcze-5-cheetah-by-rv-aircraft-released-new-boxing-miiicj-reco-ii/page-7#entry2456349

I've read the kit can be a tricky build but I would like to do a IIIE in 1/72nd

Then there's this great model which may inspire...

Plenty of options for the Mirage GB in 2017, come and join us and make sure you vote for us!

It;'s not overly tricky. Certainly not in the same tricky league as the Eduard 1/48 Fw190s. The most tricky bit is the flaps which are separate from the wings but about 75% as thick. If you can deal with that, then the rest should be plain sailing.

For fans of the Mirage IIIRS, there are some very nice images here: http://www.fliegerstaffel10.ch/?path=galerie_sub&cid=2&entries=0 :)

From that page...

Superb!

Ah, the old Fliegerstaffel 10! I was a member of that squadron from 1995 until their disbandment 2003. A very interesting time (especially 1999, when we checked all the dipl. clearance overflights due to the Kosovo conflict), and behind all of the pictures, there is a story!

Here, for instance, if you look closely you can see our sq. leader flipping the bird at the assembled leadership of the air force, at one of the latest public appearances. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Switzerland-Air-Force/Dassault-%28FW-Emmen%29-Mirage-IIIRS/486592

Here, I was in the smoke-filled HAS, waiting for the signal to push the button for the door to open... *cough* http://www.fliegerstaffel10.ch/include.php?path=galerie_pic&pid=133

I must check if I have some pictures of that time at home. There was a commemorative book which we got, with amazing pictures, but only available at horrible prices now. https://www.amazon.de/AMIR-Mirage-IIIRS-NIL-VIDEMUS/dp/3855458669/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472271458&sr=8-1&keywords=nil+non+videmus

Alex

Alex,

Knowledge such as yours will prove an invaluable reference when the GB goes ahead (which I'm sure it will)!

well, it was before the times where everyone had a digital camera (more, strictly forbidden to take cameras inside the bunkers!), so unfortunately I can hardly help with too much detailed info.

Alex,

I understand completely and will not ask further.

With my record of GB's I shall stick to just one, and that's pushing it.

Paul

You and me likewise but I'm determined to do a couple for this GB - depending on timing (and it getting sufficient votes of course)!

I'd like to do a Special Hobby F.1, as for the other subject, that could end up being an AMK Kfir (unless we get a new mould, mainstream production IIIE/5 in 1/72nd in the interim).
