Jackman
As much as I want such a nice kit, the price tage of over US$300 makes me think thrice.
GreenDragon
Want one but at £191.04p plus postage and a probable hijacking by Customs and the Post Office I can't get it. Paul Harrison
Mike Esposito
You gotta be kidding... $300??!!
cathasatail
I hope that given a few more months, this aircraft should hopefully be "eyed-up" by the "mainstream" manufacturers who could make this much cheaper than just under £200! While it does look incredibly detailled from my viewpoint, it still does not justify the price. Sam
Julien
I will wait for the Haseagwa 1/72 kit. ThEy are bound to do one.
spaddad
Let me start by saying I like post warJapaneseaircraft and especially their colour schemes but am I alone in thinking that this aircraft just doesn't look right. Whenever anyone releases a mainstream (144th by preference but would do 72nd) I'll have one but to me they look like something half way between proper and egg planes, or something from anime or sci fi, is it just me? spad
cathasatail
You are not alone in thinking it is an odd shape, the cockpit section (because it seems large compared to the rest of the aircraft) makes the aircraft look like a miniaturized 747, perhaps? Nevertheless it does look like it is capable of performing its roles perfectly- (Plenty of aerials for various electronic equipment, large sonar buoy? rack at the rear and an unusual bomb bay at the front). Radleigh
That is such a lovely scheme, a shame they never sent that one to the UK! Heres hoping Hasegawa make a 72nd one..
Julien
For that kind of money you can get a Be-200 in 1/72 and still have money left over!
Julien
I think the shape looks different (not wrong to me) as the windows are oversized and we compare them to airliner ones. I have read that pilots think the P-8 windows undersized for low level ops as they dont give enough of a view, especially when in a turn. The P-1 has been purpose designed for it role unlike the P-8 which is an airliner conversion. I would love the RAF to buy these, however its highly likely we will end up with the P-8.
cathasatail
Well I've seen the riat display on YouTube and they seem agile enough to get through the mach loop Sam Edited August 11, 2015 by cathasatail

general melchett
I like odd or bizarre aircraft but I really don't feel 'the lurv' from this one, (especially at that price). I agree it looks like an anime/egg design, proportions all over the gaff, but hey ho each to his/her own....it certainly put on a show at RIAT. I bet we wouldn't be half as critical it used a high wing as it would remind up of the 146 or if had two engine's instead of four. Its basically an adapted P-3 Orion fuselage which were assembled in japan reconfigured to jet propulsion with swept wings and tail and using four turbofans. Its worth picking up Nimrods Genesis to see the development and the proposals for RAF MPA post war, interestingly one is a Nimrod update with four under wing turbofans !
