Pete Observation Seaplane

Thank you F-32, I think you have posted me before, thanks for that.

Thank you also ancient mariner. It went together really well. I build most of my models in sections now and just glue them together. It saves a lot if masking and makes painting easier. Like below for example.

It can make modelling a lot easier. :)

:yikes: Sometimes these little yellow guys can say more than 1000 words. The first time i see this way of aircraft modelling and it seems to work!

Beautiful work on the Il-2, Tamiya?

Thank you BerndM, that's correct, it is the Tamiya IL-2.

Superb job! Really a striking, crisp, well-finished build.

The F1M was a very interesting aircraft--IMHO, the best-designed, and most effective in its designated role, of all WW2 biplane designs. You have done full credit to this beautiful machine and Hasegawa's top-drawer kit of it.

Beautiful rendition of a rare beast. I have never thought of building a kit in sections like that, how do you go on if there is a gap when you stick the wings on the fuselage and it needs filling?

I'm not a fan of the over weathered look either, although I appreciate the skill involved.

Thank you MDriskill, kpc7676, Dave, Mike and Doug. I appreciate your words. :)

I did not realise so many people admired this aircraft. I think it's a graceful machine.

Dave, in answer to your question, it's down to the quality of the mouldings. The fit of most modern kits now is so good that rarely do they need filler. The fact that they can be built in bits is no skill on my part, it's the quality of the mouldings. I dry build the kit as much as possible to see how good the fit is. I then know I can make it and paint it in sections. I've built many models like this now and have done for a few years. All my models posted on this site have been built this way. :)
