Bruce Archer
Hi! As I have described there was a failure of a shelf in my display cabinet. One of the Seafires which was damaged wa my Seafire FR.17 conversion using the Airfix 1/48th scale Seafire F.17. It is almost repaired, but I need to know the length of the support struts for the wings when they are folded. Can someone measure these for me? Thanks! Edgar
I don't have dimensions, but the compressed length appears (hah!) to be half the extended length between the two locating holes in the wing's upper surface.
Alex Gordon
Sorry to be a nuisance Edgar, there is an advisory note on the above diagram that states "For details of wingtip jury strut see Fig.6" Would you by chance happen to have a version of Fig 6 available to view? Did I apologise for being a bally nuisance by the way? Thank you for doing what you do Edgar, our understanding is far greater due to your research. Bruce Archer
Hi All! The drawings are nice, but how long are the Airfix 1/48th scale Seafire F.17 struts? Bruce
Welkin
If you include the plugs that locate into the holes in the wings; 27.5mm When cemented in position; 25.5mm.

Alex Gordon
Thanks Edgar, useful in its own way because it shows that there is detail in the tip fold area that isn't reflected in the kit. Time to find some photos I think.
Welkin
Bruce I should have said that if you PM me you are welcome to have the unwanted struts from my kit, as I built it unfolded. Martin
