HP42
Looking incredible, I think simply proceeding with what you have is best, it looks fine to me. So pleased you've picked it up again. 👍
stevehnz
Nice to see this on the go again Adrian, at risk of sounding like a nag, don't over think it, after all, no one is going to be able to say theirs is better & what you're doing will look superb with paint & details in place. TheBaron
Looks suspiciously like another fine piece of work in the offing Adrian. Keep faith - we are!
bigbadbadge
Hi Adrian. I have just caught up with this thread and what you have created is amazing. I admire anyone who can create something by scratch building. I have a hankering to do a Dragon Rapids one day as the shape of the fuselage means I may have a chance to get it done. I have bought a card model and was going to use this to copy in plasticard. Cheating I suppose, but don't tell anyone!!! Keep up your amazing work. All the best Chris
Bandsaw Steve
Good to see some progress on this one - it has not been forgotten. As for another fuselage... 😳😳😳 absolutly no need that I can see.
AdrianMF
Well this project isn’t dead, it’s just tired out after a long squawk... I decided to get the wings sanded down a bit better and sprayed them with good ole Halfords filler primer. Beautiful plumage: Wake up Polly!! I will leave that to dry thoroughly and (sigh) get the coarse sandpaper out... Regards, Adrian 6

DMC
Must go back to the beginning as it slipped by me first time around. Or did it? Senior moment. Dennis
AdrianMF
Thanks gents! I have had a rather extreme session with the 120 grit and I’m now back to here: The primer was flawed all the way down, past the layers I sprayed recently, so I am going to give the lower side a good coat of superglue. It’s a good way of using up superglue that’s going off, and with a fragment of plastic wrap around my finger there shouldn’t be too much to peel off! Touch wood, the top side, which had that treatment yesterday, is still looking good and is a bit less rippled after 320 grit and a sanding block. Mitch K
Man oh man oh man! I have to confess I had nearly forgotten this! I am so, so pleased to see progress. Good .luck and hope it keeps progressing!
Hamden
Just found this - WHAT a project! don't think I'd have the patients to keep restarting over. With your attention to detail this WILL be a superb replica of an unusual type Roger
bigbadbadge
Hi Adrian, very good to see this back again. The Halfords filler primer is good stuff. Interesting re the super glue treatment too and your skin friendly method of application, I will have to remember that. Keep up the good work All the best Chris
AdrianMF
Well, having dug this project up for its annual outing on the shelf of shame, I had another look at the wings this morning. The primer underneath the wing is still bubbling up, so I dug it all up right back to the balsa wood in the affected areas and filled with Milliput, followed by a good sanding: Finally, I think I've got a sound surface. And the topside of wing is looking solid still: Thanks for looking, Adrian

TheBaron
This annual event has now been adopted in the Church calendar as the Festival of St. Adrian. (that span looking most smooth now...)
Fritag
I’m only 5 years (and 2 days) behind. But I’m glad I belatedly spotted it; I’ve caught up now Ambitious and impressive project, not to mention instructive. Should I make a note in the diary for next year - or hope for earlier

Bandsaw Steve
We are learning the hard way that this isn’t just long-range experiment but a long-term one as well. 3

Bandsaw Steve
Unfortunately @AdrianMF ‘s method of building is as follows: 1. Select subject everyone wants built 2. build first component to very high standard 3. throw out first component 4. build first component to even better standard 5. throw out first component 6. build first component to amazing world-class standard 7. throw out first component 8. move to second component 9. Bandsaw Steve
Perhaps we need to arrange one of those ‘intervention’ things.
