Great to see this one taking paint Neil. Everything is looking smooth and it's almost a shame there's no hint of all the extra work you've put into it.

It is indeed great to see you back at work on this beauty, Neil! I would say this is inspiration for me to get back to work on my Lancs, but we both know that's a lie! Although, from where I'm typing this, I can see my Manchester, my GR.3, and my B.II (or the box at any rate)...

Regards,

Jason

Good to see this one back; one of my favourite current builds.

Me too. :)

especially as it was the making stage, hate that bit!

Don't like the making of models bit Neil? May have the wrong hobby old chap :)

(Cheap shot - I know - but hey - if you can't be genuinely amusing be pedantic I say :))

Neil this is looking great so far

Looks marvellous when all the parts are colour co-ordinated

THE BURRA HORNET

Hmm do you know what colour the text should be?

Just asking

I know that isn't the actual font on the plane

The badge stripes, blue;white;red;white;blue?????

Just messing about, I have a little milliputting on this evening you see

Bill, from what I can tell from a profile drawing inside the front cover of the Warpaint publication, the text is in white with the strip badge above being in blue/red/blue.

As for the font, I'd be happy if it was something close, better than nothing!

Me too. :)

lol, where did the 'S' go? I meant 'masking'

Got the black base coat on tonight, tomorrow evening hopefully, the masking will come off and we should have a ...well a Lincoln of sorts to look at :)

After what seems like an eternity, there's finally paint splashed right across the beast. Got some tidying up to do where the mask didn't hold, but that's expected.

Next step...get some decals on...yeehaaahhh!!!!

Big thanks to Tony OT for supplying the squadron logo and Bill (Purdu) who is doing me a decal for the 'The Burra Hornet' text on the nose, it now looks that we have the necessary nose art available for RF476 :)

Hope to see some more built Glenn :)

Started to put the decals on last night. The roundels are from one of the Blackbird sets, the letters are from Modeldecal. Once applied, the letters were brushed over with Kleer and used the brush to get the Kleer under the decal too to prevent any silvering. This seems to of worked pretty well.
