BerndM Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Hi, here is my first Topic in Britmodellers "Naval department" Its a Type VIID Submarine from Revell in 1/144 scale, started many years back and stalled for some reason. It went back on my bench some weeks ago. Its more or less out of the box, i added some details on the main gun with stretched sprues and copper wires, the barrel is painted dark gray on the topside and light gray on the upper side. There is a compare picture with a 8,8cm gun right out of the box. The barrel of the 20mm gun was replaced with a steel needle. The antennas were made from stretched sprues and Ez line The isolators on the antennas were drops of wood glue. Weathering was done with a black wash from acrylic color and a lot of drybrushing and some slight barely visible rust shades on the underwater part of the hull. I hope you like it and i wish all Britmodellers and their families a happy new year. Cheers Bernd 20
BerndM Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 That's pretty good, I like it. Thanks Brad :-)
BerndM Posted December 29, 2014 Author Posted December 29, 2014 It looks AWESOME! Thank you very much for this compliment, sadly the camera is unvorgiving, i found some "glitches" while editing the photos.
PlaStix Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Hi Bernd. I didn't know you'd gone over to the dark side of maritime models! To my shame I don't visit this section of BM as much as I should. Excellent submarine you've made there. Very nice detailing and weathering. Always useful to get a sense of scale with the matches too. Well done. Kind regards, Stix 1
BerndM Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 Good morning Stix and thank you, the dark side has a lot of interesting "stuff" to offer. Submarines in 1/144 are a perfect match for modellers with not much space (and budget) Will do in 2015 a mix of AFVs,Naval and aircraft as well. 2
whitestar12chris Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Cracking job Bemd, love the finish. Welcome to the dark side lol, space is one of the reasons I model submarines as well. All the best Chris 1
