JWM
Hi, Fairchild 91 - initailly called Baby Clipper was disigned in 1935 as a civil passenger transport amphibia. It was produced in very limited numbers (I think seven were made) but more then half of them were then used in military forces of three (!) countries: Spain (one, Nationalist), Great Britain (one - in Egypt) and Japan (two). My model is Azur kit (there is also Pavla kit) a little corrected following photos and plans (for example the angle a riging cable between engine and wings, which in kit is not a cable but more massive part). The markings are from Save and Rescue Squadron RAF, Heliopolis, Egypt, 1943 (the stork was painted on nose in 1943). Coments welcomed Best regards Jerzy-Wojtek Edited July 29, 2017 by JWM Switch to Flickr
rivers3162
A very nice build but I must admit that I have never seen this aircraft before! Definitely a unique design!

Mr T
A nice build of an unusual aircraft. I have one in the stash and you have shown what a good job can be made of it.
JWM
Thank you Gents for nice to me comments, I appreciate it very much I have one in the stash and you have shown what a good job can be made of it. Martin, perhaps even more interesting is early RAF marking, with olive drab(?) upper surfaces badly washed out http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fairchild_A-942_RAF_Egypt.jpg On wing palette there ar two variants of this early painting scheme, before she was painted DE/MS somwhere in 1942. From time to time I regred, that I have not made that early finish... Cheers J-W

MikeW
Very interesting - sort of looks as if the plane grew a brain tumor. Enjoyed seeing this. Cheers, Mike
JWM
Thank you Mike and Ben. Very interesting - sort of looks as if the plane grew a brain tumor Indeed. There is a bit similar to F-91 Russian Beriev Be 4 (http://www.aer.ita.br/~bmattos/mundo/ww2/be4.htm), but Fairchild is more bizzare to me.
