Peter Marshall
Tamiya 1/35th Sherman Easy Eight - this is a rebox of the Tasca / Asuka kit with the addition of some figures Work starts with the tracks, these are very nice, consisting of 2 parts per link and are workable once constructed. After assembling 40 links ( of the 77 per side ), took a break and made up the transmission cover, with some Mr Surfacer 500 for weld beads More track link assembly will follow tomorrow :-) Peter
Tim B
Nice start. Looks like a cool kit.
Peter Marshall
More done today - first finished off the first track, all 77 links so 144 parts :-) Then onwards with the second track - the first 40 links. Once again, taking a break at that point, to give the glue time to cure and retain a little sanity. So got on with some other bits - the drive sprockets and idler wheels And finally started construction of the lower hull Peter
Peter Marshall
Today's work - first finished off the tracks, and sprayed with a light coat of XF84 Dark Iron - works well as a base coat for tracks Then continued with the lower hull - fitted the transmission cover and the sponsoon bottoms Finally added the exhaust deflector and the tow hooks. Managed to lose one of the brackets for the tow hooks but just made a replacement out of plasticard. Peter

Peter Marshall
Today - bogies. No not full of cold, just lots of bogies :-) The tasca bogies are works of art - just loads of parts but ends up with workable suspension Glad that's done but they do look nice. Hamden
Really outstanding work. You certainly have lots of patients to build those tracks, well worth the effort though. Looking forward to watching this progress Roger
mixup_1
Fantastic work so far. The easy eight was meant to be my first piece of armour, girlfriend bought me an M26 Pershing instead, I'm not complaining lol. This will def be next on list. Look forward to seeing it all come together..good luck Pearse
Peter Marshall
Today's work - started on the Upper Hull Continued but managed to break the bullet trap so replaced with some plastic rod. Similar problem with one of the travel lock brackets so made another out of plasticard Rear hull, replaced the grab handles with wire rather than using the plastic ones Finally added the fenders with all the fiddly little brackets Peter

Peter Marshall
Today's work - first the rear stowage rack Then on with the turret - the join between the lower and upper turret sections needed a little filler and sanding back. This removed some of the cast details. Finished adding the turret details, and added cast detail back with Mr Surfacer 1000 and a stiff brush Made up the 50cal - this is a wonderful piece of molding, better than some resin ones i've seen. Then a coat of Alclad Grey Primer over everything, including the running gear Peter
snapper_city
Great job so far. Tasca .50 cals are some of the best in plastic. How did the Mr Surfacer casting turn out after primer?
Peter Marshall
Great job so far. Tasca .50 cals are some of the best in plastic. How did the Mr Surfacer casting turn out after primer? The casting texture looks just about perfect under the primer - just like sand cast steel should
Peter Marshall
Today - Pretty drab day First Olive Drab Dark Base Then the Olive Drab Base Finally the Highlights First go at modulation as i'm not normally a fan of the technique, but being a single colour figured it was worth a go, and i'm quite happy so far. Last thing sprayed a coat of Satin Varnish over the top. Peter
Peter Marshall
Today's work - started with a problem. When I was going down to the shed, it started raining so the paint got wet. When it dried it left out of scale rain marks on the paint which didn't want to rub off, so out with the paints again ( heavily thinned ), and a slight touch up job. Then painted the wheels, and fitted the running gear. Then on with a filter - used Prussian Blue to cool the tone of the paint, as its a vehicle from December 44. Now as this needs to dry completely before I can do anything else, so I moved on to starting to paint some stowage. The wooden crates were sprayed Tamiya Nato Brown, then dry brushed with Ammo Old Wood, and finally some oils to dirty up. The other item is a metal box, sprayed with Alclad Steel, then AK Worn Effects, followed by Tamiya JSDF Olive Drab then rubbed back and some oils. Happy with how that worked out. Peter Marshall
Not a lot today - just the decals, and another coat of satin varnish While that was drying I did start on the Jerry cans ( 2 petrol, 2 water ) but they've just been assembled and primed. Peter Marshall
Today's work - started with some dot filtering, however had a problem with the AK Interactive White Spirit. It seems to have attacked the paint, despite having been cured for a week and varnished. Then sprayed some more OD to repair the damage A dark wash and painted the tools. Used AK True Metal steel for the tools, which seemed very bright to me - i'll be toning it down later. On with more stowage - this is the basecoat and some dry brushing, still more work needed And Gasoline and Water Jerry cans - the darker olive drab are the water cans Peter
Peter Marshall
Today's work - first chipping Then a flat coat over the top, then started work on the tracks. First added some wear where the running gear will rub on the inside of the tracks. Then weathered the outside - used a mixture of Track Rust and Medium Earth pigments fixed with some white spirit then picked out the ridges on the tracks with Uschi metal powders.
