When you say nightfighter, do you mean a plane designed to fight at night or specifically fighters that seek out and destroy other aircraft at night. I was thinking about this and wondering if some of the old bi-planes that were used strictly for night harassment (Russian night witches, Japanese harassment flights over Henderson Field) would qualify? That then brought me around to the Black Cats that operated in the Pacific. No one would ever consider these planes night interceptors, but they really were night fighters. Just wondering. After all, with the successful conclusion of the Battle of Britain came the Blitz and the most urgent need for Fighter Command to develop onto a true all weather fighting machine. I have a defiant, would love to do a Malta based night fighter hurricane, or maybe one of the havoc/Boston with all the guns in the nose as well, oh and I now have a black cat in the stash....
