Jens Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 I have a Hasegawa 1/48th scale Harrier GR Mk. 7 I am trying to finish, but the canopy has small cracks where the sprue attachment was. I tried dipping the canopy in Future without success. Is there any way to fix these cracks or at least make them less visible? TIA, Jens
DAG058 Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 If they are not very deep and right on the surface you could tray the tamiya polishing compounds and cloths, they come in 3 gradesand can get ride of scratches. Quite pricey though. A better option might be to search Hannats or eBay for a replacement. Cheers.
Jens Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 They are cracks that go all the way through, and they are 1-2 mm long. Perhaps Tamiya extra thin cement is worth a try. Jens
scotthldr Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Stress fractures!! Unfortunately I'm still looking for a repair method as well, I've tried several ideas but none have ever worked if anything they make it worse. Source a new canopy is your only way.
Nigel Heath Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Agreed, impossible to repair, a replacement is the only option. 1
wanthony Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) Worse comes to worst, you could stage the plane in maintenance Edited December 18, 2014 by wanthony
Jens Posted December 18, 2014 Author Posted December 18, 2014 Thanks for the help guys. The aircraft will have a full weapons load so a repair setting is a no-go. I think I'll paint the frame and add the detonation cord to see how bad it looks. Jens
