Gimme Shelter
Yes yes yes - I have not got into building sci-fi kits for many years (in fact since MPC released their initial runs of their Star Wars kits back in the 70's and early 80's) but recently I somehow found a pair of 1 hour long videos on YouTube about the making of Blake's 7 which took me back many a year to my School day Monday night thrill of watching the Liberator cruising around the BBC studios on what looks now to be very worrying backgrounds etc. Anyway - I have picked up, looked in the box and then put back the Comet Miniatures Liberator kit onto the model shops shelf so many times in the past and each time regretted not buying it the day after. So after regretting it for the last 20 odd years or so, I decided to invest £110 and got a sealed box from Ebay. Having opened the box, I then needed a magnifying glass to see the kit having forgotten just how small it is. Anyway - the reason I have started a topic here is because I am thrilled to have now managed to get the very last of the superb Titan Find re-run of John's resin larger Liberator kit which has arrived and caters for lighting. I got in touch with John at Titan Find having read a thread on the web that he was looking to re-run the kit back in June this year - only to learn he only had 2 left and that the moulds were now completely burnt out and that the kit has finally met the same fate as the Liberator did. So, over my Christmas break I shall be producing 2 Liberators (DVS1 & DVS2) - I am thrilled.

Gimme Shelter
Hi ' I'll get some shots up of what's in the boxes prior to starting the kist so you can see the differences between both kits. Having now studied other builds and various archive shots of the BBC models, there is plenty of room for adding extra detail to both kits using plasticard. I found a copy of the Comet Miniatures 1997 store catalogue the other day which made interesting reading - this was the last time I was in the shop and even then they only had the clear moulded liberator kit in stock in very limited end of the run numbers. Having read Tony Jame's introduction in the inside front page of the catalogue, I think it was their first edition of the catalogue but stand to be corrected. I really should have bought their liberator back then as it was only £22.00 - Bye for now - John
moaning dolphin
Looking forward to this one, Blakes 7 was my favourite show, much better than Buck Rogers or Battlestar Galactica in my Juvenile opinion! Although I like the liberator alot I did prefer the look of the Scorpio (I think that was what it was called), very Star Warsesq. If ever a series needed a big movie remake this was it, popcorn at the ready! I really should have bought their liberator back then as it was only £22.00 - Hindsight is a wonderful thing lol! JamesP
I really should have bought their liberator back then as it was only £22.00 - Thankfully I did buy mine at that price! Look forward to seeing someone else build one. I've only seen a couple of other built up.

As has been said 'Hindsight' I look forward to seeing the Titan find kit built, John Archdeacon has produced some excellent Blake's 7 kits and the Liberator was the best in my opinion. Gimme Shelter
my builds start on December the 27th - I'll get some comparative "whats in the box" shots up on the forum for anyone interested in the scale differences, when I start the builds. Gimme Shelter
Sadly - my wife's hip replacement has completely taken over leaving me no time at all to get these kits started yet as hoped for over the Christmas break. She's well on the way to a full recovery now, however I learned yesterday that she has leant my workshop heater to a friend so I wont be in the man cave until that is back so I can get a start on these 2 kits
Mike
Well tell her to hurry up and get better soon - we're waiting! Seriously though - best wishes to her, but do hurry up and crack on. Blake's 7 was my absolute favourite when I was a kid, and although I hated the way it ended, I still love the Liberator
Madmonk
You need to get down to Smallspace4 in July at Hanslope Village Hall. The little Sci-Fi show that Paul of Little-Cars organises with Mat Irvine. Mat usually has the Liberator on display. http://www.hamex.co.uk/smallspace/smallspace%203/smallspace3.html scroll down to the last picture on the left hand side, but beware of the shorts!! Hope your good lady's recovery is swift and uneventful. Cheers, Warren.
