matto21
Brilliant cockpit detailing. Very realistic. Just doing my first 1/32 scale too (a Hawk TMk1a). Spent longer on the ejection seats and instrument panel than it will take for entire rest of the model but as your results with your 109 show....its clearly worth the effort. Picked up a couple of 21st Century Me 109s and Ju87s a while ago when they were being almost given away at 'Home Bargains'. Stashed away but you've made me think i should start mine after the Hawk. Looking forward to rest of your build. Sounds good - I've been watching your Hawk build - the seats look amazing! Be interested to see your 21st Century Kits 109 - must have missed them at HB! BerndM
Great progress so far, the ill fitting parts should be no problem
matto21
*Boring post alert* Think I've managed to get rid of that annoying gap using a combination of Tamiya White Putty and CA glue. I've just realised that the rudder assembles in a really fiddly manner too. Matt
HOUSTON
Matt, Not boring at all.. you are far too modest. Good job
matto21
After being relegated to the 'shelf of doom' since mid December I finally made some progress with this today. The reason for the relegation was frustration caued by a combination of poorly fitting wing sections and sink marks on the wing wheel bulges that I could not eliminate. I made a concerted effort today and I think I've turned a corner. I blasted the sink marks with a combination of Tamiya filler and Mr Surfacer 500 [along with a lot of 'interesting' language!] but I guess I'll only find out how succesful this was after I've applied some primer. The wings have also been fitted and I've used a strip of masking tape to close up the gap at the wing root. This is going to need further attention once the glue is set though. PlaStix
Glad you've decided to carry on with this. I hope your work on the sink marks has worked.
Ian Suds
Keep at her Matt, remember Barnes Wallis would not have succeeded with his bouncing bomb if all the failures had got on top of him. Hope you had a good Christmas, all the best for 2015.
matto21
Thanks again for the comments, some progress: The majority of the airframe i now assembled - I'm going to add the flaps etc later to avoid damage. The seperate panels on the underside fit pretty well....can anyone advise whether the G-10 would have the small 'rod' [?] in the middle of the intake? Also shows up some annoying bits I forgot to paint in the wheel wells! Finally got rid of that pesky join on the tail! Some filling and sanding was required to get a decent join on the upper cowling part. Thanks for looking. GruntZone360
Looks great so far! I really hope it comes out well because I'm planning on buying some 1:32 from Revell for my diorama.

Ian Suds
Nice one, looking forward to now getting on with some modelling myself. Christmas and New Year are great, but they don't half interfere with the modelling.
