matto21
Hello, I've always wanted to build a 1:32 kit but have always put it off due to cost/space/skill etc. Recently I decided to take the plunge therefore this is my first ever 1:32 scale model and I chose the well known Revell kit. This might take a while, especially as I'm not used to the difference in scale! Work has begun, as usual, with the cockpit - all parts have been sprayed mid grey over a black base coat to get some subtle shading [the photos make it look very subtle!] but it's a bit more noticeable in real life. I've also started picking out some of the details and applied an overall wash. I bought some Eduard PE coloured belts to use in the cockpit but, after thinking about it, I decided to make my own belts and just use the buckles from the set to try and make them look a little less 'flat'. I'm pretty pleased with how they've turned out. And I've finished the IP using a combination of Revell and the ever excellent Airscale decals. I managed to snap the clear fuel line when removing it from the sprue - I've managed to patch it up so the next job is to spray it yellow. That's it for now, thanks for looking. Ian Suds
This looks interesting, especially with a great start. So I reckon I'll be following this, good luck, looking forward to seeing more.

PlaStix
That's really smart detailing in the cockpit. It's an area I enjoy working on in plane kits and you are doing an excellent job. Well done. I must have a go at a 1/32 kit at some point.
Darby
Nice pit. Seat belts look good too. Sadly I don't have much space for 1/32 even though my eyes wish otherwise
BerndM
Great start, i will follow your build in "close formation" can t wait to see more. Its good, that the 109 was a small aircraft, otherwise the 1/32 scale is a bit too much for my space too.
Gremlin56
Excellent start Matt, nice work on the seatbelts.
somnas
I've also always wanted to build a 1/32-kit and I've also chosen the new Revell 109 (but instead the G-6) as my first so this will be great inspiration for me and you're off to a good start! /Erik

matto21
Thanks for the comments! Nice pit. Seat belts look good too. Sadly I don't have much space for 1/32 even though my eyes wish otherwise I'm pleased with the belts but they tried my patience! Great start, i will follow your build in "close formation" can t wait to see more. Its good, that the 109 was a small aircraft, otherwise the 1/32 scale is a bit too much for my space too. Hmmm yeah, 1:32 is much bigger than I'm used to - SWMBO isn't aware of the size yet....
matto21
Made a bit of progress, the cockpit has been matted down and partially assembled. I'm really pleased with how this has turned out! Also finished the IP - I've put a drop of Klear over each of the dial but it's not really visible here. Finally, I couldn't resist taping the fuselage together to see how it looks [and fits]. I bought Barracuda Cals 'Erla Bf109 G-10's part 1' decal set and am planning on doing 'black 22'. I also started drilling out the kit exhausts but decided to use the Barracuda resin replacements instead! Thanks for looking Matt
BerndM
Your cockpit looks impressive, Matt. It seems Revells 109 is going quite nice together.
Gremlin56
Looking very good Matt, good to hear you couldn't be bother to drill out the exhausts either keep the photos coming,
Doug Rogers
Cockpit looks great Matt, the 109G-10 is probably my 'favourite' 109.
matto21
Looking very good Matt, good to hear you couldn't be bother to drill out the exhausts either keep the photos coming, Barracuda exhausts arrived today and they look great! Also get replacements for the cooling scoops but I'm undecided if I can be bothered with the hassle of using them yet - see how we get on! Done a bit of work on the wheel wells today, hopefully get them painted tomorrow. Matt
matto21
Some progress - managed to get the fuselage together and it fitted really well. Some filler was needed here and there but nothing major at all. The cockpit module also fitted into the fuselage really well. Barracuda exhausts have also been fitted - I think they were worth it for the hollowed ends alone. Wheel wells also went together well and have had a coat of paint and some light weathering. And a quick photo of the cockpit module within the fuselage. Thanks for looking Matt
HOUSTON
Matt, EXQUISITE workmanship on the cockpit .. Very NEAT
Gremlin56
Looking good there Matt, excellent progress. I love the seat belts, a much better option than I chose.
Ian Suds
Totally agree that the exhausts look the part. Gluing the fuselage halves together without too much filling must have been really satisfying. Coming on nicely keep up the good work.
matto21
First poorly fitting part - the top of the tail is a bit of a dodgy fit, one side fits far better than the other. Still, in the scheme of thing it won't take long to fix....hopefully! Matt
Gremlin56
Nothing a dab of putty or a quick glob of Gator Grip won't fix
HOUSTON
Matt, you will make it look great..seeing your work to date I thing you will manage to make it better . good luck Edited December 14, 2014 by HOUSTON
PlaStix
Great progress Matt - that cockpit turned out brilliantly! As for the poorly fitting part; that should, hopefully, be a fairly straightforward fix. Looking forward to more.
harriermate
Brilliant cockpit detailing. Very realistic. Just doing my first 1/32 scale too (a Hawk TMk1a). Spent longer on the ejection seats and instrument panel than it will take for entire rest of the model but as your results with your 109 show....its clearly worth the effort. Picked up a couple of 21st Century Me 109s and Ju87s a while ago when they were being almost given away at 'Home Bargains'. Stashed away but you've made me think i should start mine after the Hawk. Looking forward to rest of your build.
