Got that? I have a Frog Macchi 202 with which I´m qualified to enter unless a model of that Cigar Girl in 007 The World Is Not Enough comes available - preferably pre-painted! V-P

I was in when originally suggested. And I'm still in! Got to do something in keeping with my background. Might even do a car??

Maria Grazia Cucinotta (Cigar girl) is not maybe as well known internationally as Monica Bellucci but has starred in some good movies. In any case she sure can turn most men's head...

Of course she's not been the first or last Italian actress with a Bond connection, I'll have to post some pictures in the next few weeks...

Speaking of Italian beauties abroad, here's one in NYC:

P7031755_zps05a122e5.jpg

A Frecce Tricolori Mb.339 donated by the Italian Air Force to the USS Intrepid Museum. Kits of the 339 were done by Aeroclub and Supermodel in 72 (the latter today reboxed by Italeri) and Frems in 48. I don't think there's any kit of Maria Grazia Cucinotta, although I once had the luck of seeing the original at a fashion event I was attending with a friend...

Cliff

No probs you're added to the growing list!

I'll join in.

Got a mint pre owned Tam 360 spider for a good price at Yeovilton last visit and have just become the proud owner of a Tam Ducati 1199 Panigale. If I practice hard i should be able to do one of them justice by then.

Sorry no pics of the lovely Italian female form.

I think the idea behind the Arna project was to combine Italian styling with Japanese reliability. Unfortunately they ended up with Italian reliability and Japanese styling.

The Alfa and the Macchi would get my vote (for you to build, Pat!).

How are SMER kits?

I think you are being a bit harsh, all Alfas are big hits with the girls, even in this case see below;

imagejpg1_zpseb99abdd.jpg

For the record her guide dog is patiently seated behind the car out of shot.

I think I have made up my mind for this GB, it's going to be a ;

C.R.D.A.CANT Z.504- Choroszy Modelbud-1/72

Which unfortunately is a resin kit, now what I need is a grown up to help.......

However in the absence of one of those can Trickyrich provide some colonial support ?

Cheers Pat

2015 is a resin year....get with the program!!! :fight::P

A resin seaplane is the answer to all your questions!

Oh dear, the Arna....

What can be said about what was likely the worst joke to ever come out an Italian car factory ?

A bit of history: Alfa was state owned in those days and as with most state owned industries you can imagine how things were... continuous strikes, political interferences, very little cash for product development, appalling build quality... come on, most here are British, think British Leyland in the '70s and you'll get the picture ! :lol:

Alfa had the need to replace the Alfasud, a car that may have been built of metal more suited to wrap chocolates than to build cars, but apart from this it was a good car with some quite powerful flat-4 engines and a very effective suspension set-up. Really the Sud was a hot hatch before the term was invented. The problem was that there was little money to develop anything new and in the end it was decided to build a car as a joint venture with Nissan. This was in the end an Italian variant of the Nissan Pulsar/Cherry. It was not in theory a bad car as the engines were still powerful and the road manners were pretty good, but the car suffered from one problem: it looked terrible, as the picture above testifies ! To make matters worse, Alfa's build quality continued to decline in those years and the Arna was built when quality reached the lowest possible point.

The car was hated from day one, traditional Alfa fans felt betrayed, others wondered what had happened to a company that used to build gloriously looking cars, very few understood the need to partner with a Japanese company (back then Japanese cars had not yet won the respect they deserve today). It was a total failure, not many were sold and in the end large numbers were bought by local police agencies and other State users. The failure of this car accelerated the events that in the end brought the Government to put Alfa on sale... maybe this was the main merit of the Arna.

Now should anyone build a model of the Arna if this GB goes ahead, he/she will have all my respect ! However I think most would rather build a model of something like this:

1973_Alfa_Romeo_Montreal_007_4941.jpg

The Montreal, one the best looking Alfas ever and also one of my favourite classic cars.

Hi Giorgio

Great post, my favourite Alfa is below, it's the original 6C, I saw this last year when on holiday in Italy, the photos don't do it justice !

Rich, I accept your offer as personal Resin Guru, before we start other than surgery how do I get the superglued bits off my hands when they have set ?

Cheers Pat

Hmmm well a good start is not to get glue on them in the first place!

Plus I would avoid the really thin stuff as it dries to quick and does get onto everything!!

Have a look at some of the Gel products around, they are less messy and you get a bit of a chance to move bits about before they are stuck......forever! You can also use accelerators but they can be often more bother than they're worth, plus if you get some glue and accelerator on your fingers they burn like f#$@!!!

Pat, you sure are a man of taste, the 6C really was a beautiful machine !

Speaking of beauty, it's hard for an aviation enthusiast like me not to mention what was one of the most elegant fighters to grace the skies in WW2, the wonderful Reggiane Re.2005:

Reggiane_RE_2005_zpse70fae01.jpg

This didn't see much action and was always overshadowed by the G.55 and Mc.205, in any case none of the other two fighters looked as good.

After the war Fiat continued with some quite ugly designs but the most succesful manufacturer was actually Macchi with their widely exported line of trainers. Here's one from down under, an elegant jet in an elegant livery:

P6080754_zps9473f556.jpg

And speaking of Italian beauties, didn't I say earlier that there's been some interesting contribution from this Country to the James Bond movies ? Here's a recent good one...

murino_zps9d3a6950.jpg

Caterina Murino is not really the most famous actress and I doubt that her career will ever be comparable to the greatest Italian actresses of the past. In any case I'm sure many were disappointed when her character was killed in Casino Royale and most would have liked to see more of her on screen....

O, I nearly forgot. I have also a Fiat G55 and a Lamborgini Countach. I also found some decals for a Ju 87,Ju 88, Bf 109 and Bf 110 in Italian colours. This will make my decisions for later very difficult.

Cheers,

Thanks Rich

I'll PM you, for a list of stuff I need from Santa.

And Giorgio

Go easy with the photos you post please, I have to watch the blood pressure, too attractive by half and enough to set any boys pulse racing, and the picture of the girls was ok too !

Cheers Pat

Speaking, I meän writing, of curvy Italians, a man of my age and nationality can't pass the Ultimate streamlined sportscar that I might want to build should I find the Tamiya kit: Fiat 131 Mirafiori Abarth, driven by mr. Maximum Attack Markku Alen. Man, can a soapbox fly!
