Roman Schilhart Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) Hello! Here's my 1/72 Airfix Lancaster BII, which I started working on in April 2014. It was already finished at the end of October and went on display at the Wiener Modellbaumesse (Vienna Model & Toy Fair), where IMPS Austria were attending. Now I finally managed to get pictures taken, thanks to Mr. Wolfgang Rabel of IGM Cars & Bikes. This is the 1/72 Airfix kit with some Eduard photo etch added, representing a machine of 408 (Goose) Squadron, 6 Group RCAF, RAF Linton-on-Ouse, Yorkshire, July 1944. The model was airbrushed using Gunze/Mr Hobby acrylics. TT Thanks for looking! Cheers from Vienna, Austria Roman Edited December 1, 2014 by Roman Schilhart 34
Paul J Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Nice work. I have this one to do sometime and its good to see how it should look.
nemessis74 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Excellent!!!Very clean job...quality for museum. Well done mate!!!
mixup_1 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 After finishing mine only a few months ago and my first RFI, this build is fresh in my mind. You have done yourself proud Roman...what a beautiful Lancaster! Lovely paint work and finish!
PlaStix Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Lovely neat work. A superb Lancaster! Well done.
Dennis_C Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 A magnificent Lancaster. Very cool!!! And it's interesting to compare it to Manchester posted yesterday. Two-engined streamlined Manchester vs heavier looking Lancaster is something like a sedan or coupe vs a station wagon variant of the same car model.
Telboy1999 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 That's so good it makes me want to hang up my airbrush in shame. Lovely job, great paint work and fantastic build, one to be proud of.
Leonl Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Great, the BII always makes an interesting subject. Nicely done...
dogsbody Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Nicely done. Now if you could just tone down that very bright coppery colour on the cowling fronts, it would be even better. Not your fault. Airfix tells you to use that colour, but it's not quite right. Chris
modelglue Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Lots of positive feedback here Roman, and it is easy to see why. Nicely presented, but ultimately nicely modelled version of the Lanc. The Goose squadron option is very much my go to when I build mine, and I would also like a modern tool of a Halifax Mk flown by 408 as well so I can represent "Chesty" crewed by Bob Gall.
HOUSTON Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Roman, Just AWESOME... its quite an IMPRECCABLY SUPERB looking Lancaster. GOOD JOB Sir.
woody37 Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 Always enjoy your builds Roman, and this is no different. Beautifully finished as always Neil
Viking Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 I like that! It's great to see one of these hercules engined Lancs built. Cheers John
Meatbox8 Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 A beautiful rendition. You have inspired me to get this kit too. 1
