MVW
Hello, I consider the shape around the cockpit not too bad. See enclosed pic of the Mig-29 OVT. The red trim around the canopy only extends slightly and reguraly to the airframe, so it depicts the canopy shape quite well. Martin

MiG-Mech
Why they open always the aux intakes ?
Laurent
Why they open always the aux intakes ? My guess: because the designer doesn't "understand the aircraft" (I'm ok with this) and that his management doesn't think it worth caring for such things (I'm less ok with this). MiG-Mech
That's possible. But if you know just one single detail about the MiG-29, it would be about the aux doors.Maybe the aftermarket find a solution for that mistake.

Flankerman
Some enterprising AM company ought to do a resin cover for the upper LERX intakes - they are common on most parked MiG-29's.... I suppose the biggest problem would be getting a resin part to fit on the curved top surface of the LERX - every kit shape is different - and even fewer are correct..... Still, if the kit producer included it.......... it would kill two birds with one stone. Ken PS - Note the subtle shape of the front fuselage - the cockpit sides are vertical, there is a distinct small-radius 'crease' where the cockpit side meets the LERX and the LERX has a blunt rounded edge - except for the last 12 inches, where there is a very sharp lip. MiG-Mech
Resin cover sounds good. There are already some etched parts available. Edited August 20, 2015 by MiG-Mech

They're relatively easy to scratchbuild, though as you suggest the accuracy of the model determines if the covers "sit" correctly. Here's my effort for Italeri's MiG-29. As you can see they don't sit quite as horizontal as they should.

MiG-Mech
Kit numbers are 72901 and 72903. Mistake ? Same ? Different ? One without one with adfitional resin parts. Â Edit: Ah, I saw, they simply change kit number. 72901 is ukrainian MiG-29S in pixel scheme. Edited November 23, 2022 by MiG-Mech
