Paul E
As always I love dropping by this build to marvel at your great work. I have cast parts in white metal in the past and it is quite easy to do. I have yet to have a go at resin but I found this article on t'internet which l think will be of use; http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/article/resin-casting-for-beginners-part-1/5460. I am looking forward to see how you get on.
longshanks
Thanks for the kind words.......... and suggestions Martin, if only you knew how many attempts get binned. Perhaps I should post my failures instead of my successes Kev Edited April 5, 2016 by longshanks
Martian
We could try that. I at least have a large stock of unused derogatory comments I can raid. Martin
Gremlin56
Perhaps I should post my failures instead of my successesKev Would probably be a very short thread Kev, just stick to the victories mate
longshanks
Been a couple of weeks since I posted bits, work getting in the way of life Been making the last bits and pieces for the 2 pdr. Magazine  Especially for Martin a failure! Tried to press the sides from lithoplate as you can see to much distortion...…    Ammunition will be left separate until final painting/weathering   Hand pump for hydraulics, now that's got to be hard work   The silver wire is/will be the hydraulic lines. Again I'll leave attaching until finals  Finally access step  That's all for now folks, thanks for looking in  Kev Edited October 3, 2018 by longshanks

Martian
Well, that's rubbish isn't it! I expect better than that from you. I mean, call yourself a modeller? The rest of the work isn't bad though! Martin

Al Gunthwaite
Cracking Stuff!! A further suggestion for resin casting...I use CMA Moldform in Birmingham (www.cmamoldform.co.uk).They also do my white metal casting. They're not especially quick, and they're not especially cheap, but the quality is excellent (in my opinion).. Al
longshanks
Winch made up   Decided I Needed to portray the geared down array and needed a gear wheel, three attempts later   The gear wheel is 5 mm in diameter and turned out OK, shame it will never be seen  Finished item Warping drum turned on electric drill   Thanks for looking in  Kev Edited October 3, 2018 by longshanks
Ravens
That's an ingenious method of crafting the gearwheel; I'll have to remember that trick. Ross.

longshanks
Step forward in the next sub assembly..................... the 10' dinghy First a block was cut to size, the plan and side profiles drawn on and let sanding commence The actual dinghy is the ply laminations, the balsa block is a spacer   The following show the sequence of the build up for the holder    Managed to get it darn close on the 4th attempt. Well pleased as I'd never done anything like this before. The dinghy has been separated from the mould and trimming and finishing can commence, happy days   Especially for Martin 😉  Thanks for stopping by  Kev Edited October 3, 2018 by longshanks
