Thanks folks

Paul please, please do not encourage Martin

Who said I ever needed any encouragement?

Again ... Awesome work buddy :)

Agreed, he's doing alright! Must be me cheering him on!

Brilliant. The key is fantastic and you should cast and sell that......That is going to be a fantastic gun when finished. The contrast between the kit part and what you have made is amazing Been watching this for a while and will continue for the full journey. Especially now Gin and Tonics are in there somewhere...

Thanks for sharing.

Cheers

Thanks folks

Francis, thank you for your Help

Frank the only resin used so far is the shield, all the rest scratch built

Martin I must admit the world would be a dull place if you were locked away in a cool dark place where you belong

Guy, I can see in going to have to keep the lemon/lime & ice hidden lol

Cheers Kev

That has already been tried. Sadly the people that have tried it in the past have found that I like cool dark places and after a very short while they kick me out and barr me, saying they can't cope with me anymore. :banstamp:Some have even been prepared to pay people to take me away.

PS: Never thought I would ever find a use for the banned emoticon! Slightly surprised that it has never been used on me though!

Oh Dear!

I got that reaction when I mentioned it, mmmmmmmmm time for a cunning plan

Well I must be getting something right. The pic I've based the diorama on is Bastia, Corsica.

Kev

This Med pic is not Bastia but has some really weird dockside stuff - left to right a ground role Bofors gun (with large wheel pattern), a Tilly?, front axle from a 4x2 truck, what looks to be front of twin axle cart, pair of motors in transport cases and an unidentifiable truck possibly with a machinery body behind the motors.

Crikey! Do you work in photo interpretation?

The pair of motors in cases, I wonder if they could be Packard's?

Great pic. I'm away from my references at the moment but that looks to be two elco 77's flanking a US built Vosper and a Higgins boat on the end.

Thanks for posting. Some good stuff on IWM site, shame the search engine leaves a bit to be desired

Some places they get mildew

And others get too hot

Some places are so damp that

Everything you got just rots

All kinds of condensation

Directories of the rain

There's not much compensation

When everything's been stained

Some have sentimental value that

Cannot be erased

Go store it in a cool dry place

(lyrics by Traveling Wilburys)

I think I'm the mildewed bit!

Hi Folks,

Sorry for the dearth of updates but I was kidnapped by Aliens .............................

and transported to the South of Spain where I was made to lie in the sun, eat fantastic food (mainly fresh fish), drink copious quantities of gin, well you get the picture.

Back at the bench work has been continuing with the 6 pdr

Started with the anti skid wood platform which I formed up on paper cos it's all rather delicate, total thickness of the two parts 0.5mm.

When all was glued up I sanded off the back

et voila

P1030722%20Copy_zpsbhmcqmhu.jpg

Resin gun support cleaned up and plate for bolting to deck added. Gun mount built and temp fix.

P1030727%20Copy_zpsyhankdpz.jpg

P1030728%20Copy_zpscqdsfaiv.jpg

Can't remember if I've shown how I get all my bolts the same length, sorry if I'm repeating myself (I'm over sixty and allowed to  )

P1030724%20Copy_zpswd1wqq0b.jpg

all together now............

P1030731%20Copy_zps2elkefjb.jpg

P1030732%20Copy_zpsdawxxlwa.jpg

Added two steps to the front of the shield and could not resist balancing it all together

P1030726%20Copy_zps2cgbqgrk.jpg

P1030725%20Copy_zpstzdgd6wg.jpg

That's all for now, normal service(?) has resumed

Thanks for stopping by

The gun decking reminds me of one of those "what I did with a couple of discarded pallets" things. ;) Looks good!
